“Probably the best tasting traditional food I've had in Malta”
Reviewed December 20, 2011

We visited the place with a group of friends (over 10 of us) for a traditional 'rabbit' meal. The spaghetti starter (in rabbit sauce) was excellently done - al dente - and the sauce was out of this world. The main rabbit course was a bit bony but was well cooked, well flavoured and tasted good. Probably the best tasting traditional food I've had in Malta.

“The best Fenkata (rabbit Stew) in MALTA!!!!”
Reviewed May 20, 2011

For the typical Maltese Fenkata experience (Rabbit Stew)...this is the best place to go... the rabbit stew is very tasty but you can also get a taste of other typical Maltese Delicacies like the Bigilla and Snails (really worrth trying them out). truly recommand this place but you need to book at this place is always jam packed with families and large groups of friends...
AND THIS PLACE IS IN MGARR, MALTA AND NOT GOZO!!!!

“Good local food in a locals restaurant”
Reviewed March 23, 2011

I have been here many times over the years and it is considered one of the premier places for eating the Maltese delicacy of rabbit. Mgarr in Malta (not Gozo as this address currently indicates despite me telling Tripadvisor several times to change it) is considered the best place for rabbit on the island and there are several restaurants in the village that cater for this.

United bar is a family run restaurant that has several tv screens in it showing sports, in particular the English football games, as one of the owners is a mad United fan, and during Uniteds games there gets quite a crowd in.

The food is served in very large portions, Maltese style, so if you have a small stomach only order a main meal and skip the starter, or take a starter and expect to get a doggy bag on your main meal. As I said the rabbit is very good here and there are various ways you can try it, from a sauce on spaghetti, whole rabbits or as a mixture of quail, rabbit and horse. I would also recommend you try the snails.....surprisingly delicious!

The atmosphere is good here with lots of local Maltese families eating here with the noise that comes with them. Booking is recommended if you want to eat on the over the weekend as it gets very busy

Food and drink is cheap in Malta so you can expect a great meal and not break the bank.
