Three generations comprising five adults and two young children (aged 1 and 4) shared a week's holiday during July in Le Grebe and all agree that the well-equipped accommodation was excellent and allowed plenty of space for everyone. It was really good to have a private gated garden area for the children to play in whilst the large table and chairs (plus barbeque) provided allowed us to eat most of our meals outside. The swimming pool proved very popular with adults and children alike. Ian and Sandra could not have been more helpful from initial booking enquiry through to end of stay. They gave us good advice about local markets, restaurants and places of interest and were available if needed but never intrusive.

We stayed in Le Grebe for 2 weeks in June with two children (aged 1 and 3) and another couple. Le Grebe is a good size with all the facilities and amenities you will need for a relaxing holiday. Unfortunately we had terrible weather but the children entertained themselves indoors as there were some toys available and a DVD player, (but take your own DVDs). There is a good space of land at the back with a patio and gas BBQ and a wonderful pool which is heated. The location is quiet and a 5-10 minute drive from Ligueil and Descartes where you will find good supermarkets. The location is also good for access to chateauxs and other tourist attractions - Beauval Zoo is amazing! The hosts Ian and Sandra were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. All in all a lovely place to stay!

We arrived at Les Petites Cigognes late afternoon on the Saturday before Christmas and were warmly welcomed not only by our hosts Sandra and Ian, but also by a beautiful Christmas tree, a blazing log fire and a chilled bottle of fizz in the fridge.

It’s our third visit to Les Petites Cigognes and our second time in the gite Les Colombe and it’s impossible to feel anything but instantly relaxed the moment you step through the door. It’s such a warm, cosy and comfortable place, immaculately presented, that we hardly ventured outdoors for duration of our stay other than to collect a few more logs for the fire.

The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped having every utensil even the most demanding cook would ever need and having stayed in Les Colombe previously, we had no hesitation in spending our Christmas break there knowing that everything would be at hand to prepare a traditional Christmas lunch.

Les Petites Cigognes provides the perfect retreat for those looking for a “get away from it all” holiday and we would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone.

We have hired gîtes in France since our children were tiny; this time, we were with one of them and his wife. In all that time, we have experienced many different standards, so we are well-placed to say that this was at the top of the range.

The smallest of the three, La Colombe, was a good size for the four of us, with the two bedrooms each having a well-equipped en-suite bathroom. Others have commented on the completeness of kitchen equipment; we agree and were pleased to find it all operational. The gas barbecue worked well and the TV equipment served to watch two or three DVDs during the week. The gîte was extremely clean and tidy, with furnishings looking fresh and well-maintained. Importantly, the walls of the gîte provided complete sound-proofing from the neighbours.

Surprisingly for September, the pool was very necessary and was maintained to a very high standard. We also used some of the bicycles made available to guests.

The location is a lovely compromise between having the Loire châteaux accessible and yet being away from it all in the calming French countryside. Out of season, there was a minimum of the queues and traffic that can be a feature of the Loire Valley in July and August.

Ian and Sandra worked very hard to maintain the facilities and the calm of Les Petites Cigognes, but were always available for advice, to make a reservation or just to chat.

We returned wondering how we could persuade the rest of our family to join us on our next visit.

We have just spent two weeks at Les Petites Cigognes. The first week in Le Pluvier and the 2nd in La Grebe. Both housies were very clean and tidy and furnished and equipped to an extremely high standard. Over the years we have rented many properties in France and Les Petites Cigognes was the best by a long way. The pool and gardens are beautiful and very relaxing and were a welcome refuge when we had overdosed on sightseeing. Hosts Sandra & Ian are extremely kind and wam and we cannot recommend Les Petites Cigognes enough. We would come back and we do not say that very often!
