“The perfect, peaceful place to stay”
Reviewed September 15, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

I took my friend together with my 90 year old mother to stay for a week at The Bothy from 5th to 12th September and we all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday base in Broadwindsor, which is such a beautiful Dorset village surrounded by stunning countryside. There are so many places to visit, regardless of the weather, being less than an hour's car ride to Lyme Bay, East Devon as well as Somerset. There are wonderful countryside and coastal walks too. The Bothy is situated well away from the road and offers a place to stay which is peaceful and tranquil.

The hosts, John and Elaine are very welcoming but also respect their guests' privacy. Their children, Ryan and Rosie are delightful and happy to chat to you, whilst the animals ( 3 goats, 2 miniature ponies, 4 sheep and 2 pot bellied pigs) are very friendly and enjoy trotting down to the gate to say hello to visitors. Barley, the family dog is gorgeous too!

The Bothy was the perfect holiday accommodation for my elderly mother, as she had her own en suite room on the ground floor and the car could be taken close to the cottage door. There was ample space inside to accommodate both her wheelchair and her 'tri wheeler/ walker'. Both of the upstairs en suite bedrooms were spacious, clean and comfortable and I enjoyed the best nights' sleeps in a long while.

The hosts provided absolutely everything to make The Bothy the perfect place to stay. Information about places to visit, books to read, games to play ( if you have time!), TVs in all the bedrooms and all you could possibly need for use in the kitchen.

I will definitely be returning to The Bothy again for a holiday in Dorset - my favourite part of the country ( I wouldn't consider going anywhere else) . I would of course, be very happy to recommend The Bothy to my friends and family.

Thank you John and Elaine for making us so welcome again this year. Looking forward to the next time.

“Wonderful family holiday location”
Reviewed September 7, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

The Bothy is a really cosy well equipped holiday accommodation in fact it is like home. We stayed as an extended family group of five and had a wonderful time. The Bothy is very well equipped with excellent cooking facilities, very comfortable beds and ensuite bathrooms. Also the lounge dining area was very comfortable with plenty of seating. The heating is excellent as well if required. The hosts are so friendly as well, Elaine was there to meet us and show us around and John was allways around for chat or to cover any queries. Their two children Ryan and Rosie are lovely as well. There are a whole array of animals there as well to keep you amused, goats , sheep, miniature horses and two pot bellied pigs who snore a lot. The local village is very picturesque and there are lots of great walks in the local area. All in all a lovely relaxing place to stay.

“Self catering that can't be beaten.”
Reviewed September 3, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Our family, 4 adults and 2 children, stayed for a week. The Bothy is a very sympathetic conversion of old stables. All the rooms were large enough that no-one got underfoot. The facilities within the house were extensive and comprehensive. The welcome from the owners was personal and made you feel very welcome with even the owner's children being involved. When they heard that it was one of our children's 10th birthday, they bought a present! A lovely thought.
If we ever return to Dorset this will be our base.

“RELAXED, FRIENDLY, SUBERB!”
Reviewed August 26, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We stayed in The Bothy from 15th August - 22nd August 2014 together with my parents. My 2 sisters and their families had the cottages either side.
From the moment we arrived Elaine welcomed us and showed us around. We really were made to feel so welcome. If you are are large family group or a group of friends I would highly recommend these accommodations.
The children loved feeding and playing with the ponies, and it was lovely to see the goats and pigs lol!
The accommodation itself is gorgeous clean and homely and the Bothy was plenty big enough for 4 adults and our 2 children.
We had a fantastic family holiday and if we can afford it next year (hoping to go abroad too!) we will definitely look at booking here again for a week.
Thank you so much John, Elaine, Ryan and Rosie xxxxx

“the perfect place for family get togethers”
Reviewed August 9, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Just back from a brilliant week at the Bothy. All 9 of us (3 generations) had an amazing time. David, Elaine, Ryan and Rosie made us truly welcome. The grandchildren loved the animals and the use of the slide and trampoline.
Every room beautifully decorated, all the kitchen utensils you could want, a bbq in the lovely private garden, lovely little village with shop, craft centre (serves the most gorgeous food) and a pub which was not the friendliest on a weekday evening.
Nothing to much trouble to make our stay great, even lending Daniel some superhero Dvd's, on top of the extensive range to be found in the cottage. Hope to visit again one day.

“Wonderful place to stay with Friends & Family, very restful.”
Reviewed March 26, 2014 for a stay in March 2014

The Bothy exceeded expectations and a very restful, charming place to stay within walking distance of pub and local shop. I stayed with my 2 friends and one dog and it was like home from home. Beautifully converted with some lovely touches and spotlessly clean. The sitting room very comfortable, kitchen well equipped and all the bedrooms were very light & beds, pillows, linen of excellent quality. We all slept so well and the wonderfully arranged bedrooms gave plenty of privacy and no sharing of bathrooms! Within easy distance of Bridport (town) & Burton Bradstock (beach and Hive cafe). Only there for 2 nights but wished we could have stayed longer. We will return sometime this year when we can sort out dates. Small point. Could do with extra lamps in the sitting room.
