“An Excellent Holiday Setting - Home from Home.”

We had a lovely holiday at Orchard Cottage, John and Elaine have ensured that everything you may need is available making it feel like home from home. The little private garden was enjoyed by our 10 year old cocker spaniel and the goats in the paddock bordering the garden kept him amused. They also have sheep; ponies and two pot bellied pigs which will keep the children amused.
Broadwindsor was an ideal base for visiting Dorset, the village pub provides good food and the quiz on a Thursday is great fun. We are looking forward to visiting again in the future.

“Relaxing family holiday in Broadwindsor”
Reviewed November 13, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

We had a wonderful, relaxing week at Orchard Cottage with our two young children aged 5 and 2. This is a beautiful part of Dorset with lots of things to see and do nearby including beaches, walks and countryside. Broadwindsor has a shop and Craft Centre with a nice cafe and Bridport is not too far away with a larger variety of shops, bars and restaurants. The cottage is really well equipped - good kitchen equipment, lots of toys and books and DVDs and baby paraphernalia if you need it. Our children LOVED the goats and pigs and playing in the garden. We will definitely be returning to Orchard Cottage next year!

First time we had visited Dorset and also first time stayed in a cottage. This will not be the last.....We had a brillant time ..very good hosts..area was so delightful. We went out and about all over ..loved Lyme Regis..had brillant hot weather..the best part was coming back to the cottage each night.loved it loved it...we only stayed for a week and was very bitterly disappointed that we had not booked in for a longer period..Looking forward to going back real soon. There was everything that you need in the cottage ,very clean and very comfortable. The children loved feeding the goats each morning who live at the bottom of the garden....can not wait to return brillant time had by all.

“Beautiful cottage in picturesque village, lots nearby”
Reviewed September 7, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We stayed for three nights at the beginning of Sept. The cottage, like the weather was perfect. Wood and stone provide a traditional and tasteful feel to the cottage. Hot, powerful shower, fully fitted kitchen, Sky TV and comfortable beds and sofa give it the modern comforts that make coming back at the end of a long day exploring a pleasure in itself.
Outside three goats, two (very big) pigs, sheep and two little horses captivated my 9 year old daughter's heart (not forgetting the owners friendly dog, Barley). The cottage is on the outskirts of the pretty village of Broadwindsor with a well stocked community store, friendly pub and craft centre to visit. A walk into the village can take longer than expected as people actually stop and say hello.
The owners, David and Elaine live on site and are very welcoming and make you feel right at home from the moment you arrive.
Surrounding the village there is lots to do. Picture perfect countryside invite long walks and the nearby towns of Beaminster and the larger Bridport have much to offer, including markets on certain days. The Jurassic Coast is close by car with West Bay, Charmouth and the lovely Lyme Regis all waiting to be explored. Slightly further along a beautiful coastal drive is Weymouth, with sandy beaches and Sea Life Centre.
We crammed these into three all too short days, but much more time could be spent at each and the many other other places nearby that we hope to explore next year.
Although I would happily recommend this cottage to my closest friends without fear of disappointing, part of me wants to keep it secret, just so we can be sure of being able to book next year..
