“Very good service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

We stayed here for 3 nights, ate in the restaurant for two of them. The staff are well trained in service, make check backs at the appropriate times and are happy to offer suggestions.
I felt that occasionally the portions were a little small, for example although the baked pear with shropshire blue cheese was excellent, where was the cheese? I felt for the price it was a little stingy. The lemon chicken with garlic was juicy and not over cooked, not easy to do, but the spinach, although cooked to perfection was a very small portion. The lamb tagine was well flavoured and the carrot, coconut & ginger soup was delicious. The ice cream dessert was huge, and the waitress was happy to provide two spoons. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere, and the breakfasts are excellent. The menu is small, which is no bad thing as what they do, they do well. If they were to offer too many dishes it would be at the expense of quality. My husband also had a pizza which was cooked to perfection.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay and found staff to be friendly and helpful. The Movenpick ice cream is delicious– it really is the very best! If you had no cheese on your pear, Shropshire Blue and walnut salad starter, I am very sorry this was an error by a team member. Had you let the waitress know we would happily have provided the cheese! With regard to your chicken main, the spinach does sauté to a small portion – but again we would have been happy to provide more if you had asked the waitress. We do take comments on board and I have discussed your feedback with our small team to make sure that portion sizes are consistent and dishes are sent out as per the menu (i.e. with Shropshire Blue Cheese).

We hope to see you again soon.

Best wishes,

“Great Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

Went to The Baron for Sunday lunch with family and loved the pub, staff, views and facilities. The food was good but the beef was a little over done and dry. However, I would be happy to go again because the atmosphere was so family friendly. Reading the other reviews we may have just been unlucky.

Thank you for your review. I’m glad you enjoyed visiting the pub for Sunday lunch and found the atmosphere friendly and relaxing. I do cook the beef to medium rare, but we do get quite a few requests for well done. We would have replaced your meal immediately if you had let a waitress know you thought the beef was a little overdone and dry. We are always glad to receive feedback from customers as it helps us provide a better offering.

We hope to welcome you again soon.

“Consistently one of the best places to eat within a fifteen mile radius.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

The standard of food is consistently high. There are a number of other establishments in the area where sometimes a good meal can be obtained, but at The Baron the standard of preparation, service and food is always high. For this reason when taking friends for a meal this is always our first choice.

“Excellent Sunday Lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

I went here for Sunday lunch with family and was very impressed. I had a lovely baked pear and blue cheese salad for a starter followed by a spinach and mushroom pancake, which was also excellent. The rest of my party were also pleased with their meals, particularly the roast beef. The service was friendly and efficient, and its evident that the staff care about their customers. The location is also worth a special mention as there are beautiful views of the Shropshire hills from the restaurant and the beer garden is a lovely place to spend an afternoon if its sunny.

Stayed for two nights in the 'blue bedroom' everything was perfect. Beautiful room, very good food, the bar and restaurant were a joy. They even have a small campsite. Overall a very enjoyable experience
