“Green and Clean”
Reviewed August 4, 2009

We stayed at Ekaant on 3rd August 2009. The room is basic but sufficent. The map provided by hotel is very detailed and helpful, I mention this cause you hardly have to ask anyone and can follow thier map without a GPS.

Good Points
Calm and clean environment
Firendly and courteous hotel staff
Service is very good
Food is not bad as mentioned earlier though we only had breakfast. The breakfast had egg omlette, bread toast, puri bhajji, fruits and juices, tea/coffe, baked beans and Poha
The hotel has a wonderful Nature trail with two machaan which offer magnificent view of the entire property

Not so good points
There is no room service (depends on which way you look at it, I liked it as there is no disturbance but if you are with kids then it can get a bit tricky)
Since the area is still Work in progress the options for food is limited and expensive
In rains the balcony for each room is closed since rain water lashes the balcony. That takes away the selling point you see with the curtains down you are in your room with only walls around i think it defeats the purpose and the main attraction for ekaant.
The water sports as mentioned earlier by someone else is way too expensive and not worth it all. Jet ski costs INR 500 but you cannot self drive, there is a bumper drive but no fun for INR 100 each

  • Liked — The view, the greenery and no pollution
  • Disliked — The toilets, no hot water and expensive food

We drove from Pune to Lavasa crossing the twisty ghat roads, numerous quaint villages and a beautiful dam. The ghat just before we reached the Lavasa main gate was covered in mist and it drizzled on making it one of the most spectacular drives, as is expected out of Maharashtra this time of the year! On entering the Lavasa gate, we crossed the helipads, the reinforced walls (to prevent landslides), several mini waterfalls (that one cannot enter) to reach Ekaant - the Retreat. You cannot book for any of the resorts/hotels at Lavasa through any website at present. There are also no authorized agents who do this. The most reliable way to book is by taking the number from the website and calling them. You need to leave your credit card details in order to make a reservation or make an advance payment. Weekends/Holidays are sold out, so book well in advance (like 2 months before if you can). Weekdays, however, could be available. There are only 20 valley-lake facing rooms. There is a lot of construction going on at Lavasa, but Ekaant is pretty far away from the usual construction noises us city folks hear! It is truly a haven. The tariff is Rs. 2500 per night + taxes. Check in is at 2:00 PM and check out is at 12:00 noon. Extra bed charges are Rs. 400. There are fixed timings for meals that are buffet style. We had dinner and we really liked it. There was the staple soup, raita, aloo chaat, daal, roti, jeera pulao, pepper chicken, paneer, pasta, caramel custard and gulab jamun being served. The following are the rates for food.

Breakfast Weekday Rs. 200+taxes Weekend Rs. 200 + taxes
Lunch Weekday Rs. 300+taxes Weekend Rs 400 + taxes
Dinner Weekday Rs. 300+taxes Weekend Rs 400 + taxes

Conference Charges - Rs. 3000
LCD Projector - Rs. 1500
Internet Connections - Rs. 1000

Reliance Netconnect does not work here.

Mobile - Airtel, Idea and BSNL work at the retreat. The service is excellent and Mr. Thakur at the reception is very courteous and professional. They diligently answer all calls and questions!

In all, the place is really romantic. Each room opens out to the valley where you have a great view. This is the place to get a hot cup of tea on a chilly/wet morning! The room has all modern amenities. However, they do not provide room service, which is great in a way. One needs to go to the lounge to get tea/coffee served and enjoy the HUGE LCD tv. The decor is wood, stone, glass and is a beautiful combination. Children can play outside and there is a nature trail for all ages to enjoy. Pets are not allowed. The resort is very private in nature due to its limited numbers and one can enjoy watersports in Lavasa if one wants adventure!

One should def. go to this place for peace and tranquility! It suits all age groups, all agendas or the lack of it!

There are now 3 Hotel properties now open in Lavasa. Of them, this property is surely the best. It is located higher, and hence has a better view of the reservoir and the lake. It is about 2 KMs from the city center, but then, since there is no way to get there other than on your personal vehicle, the choice for this hotel on location does not matter. The best thing about this place, second to location, is the nature trail they have created. It is very unique and you will appreciate the ecological steps adopted to make this trail a worthwhile experience. The hotel has only one restaurant with fixed meal timings and has no room service. But if your objective is to lay undisturbed, even not having room service will not bug you. The maintainance of the property is top class.

Ekaant is one of the only 2 hotels that have opened in Lavasa so far. Having heard much about Lavasa, i made a reservation for a 2 night stay at Ekaant a few months ago. Its about 240 kms from Mumbai..however the drive time is a lot more as the last 30 kms are steep ghaat.
Ekaant is the first hotel on entering Lavasa. Its on a very high clif which gives it an amazing elevation to view the entire Lavasa properties, the ongoinjg construction, and the lake. I think its this landscape view that makes this a must visit place.
The property is fairly small and has very basic facilities such as badminton, a few hammocks, a very nice lounge, etc...not much to do in terms of activities. But this place is ideal for a peaceful and relaxed vacation.
Another impressive thing about this hotel is that although it has very few rooms (20)..each of the room has a great view to the valley. The rooms are well decored and comfortable.
Now for the cons - no room service available yet. Due to some reason, they are very stringent about dinner/lunch/breakfast timings...even tea/coffee are not served beyound hours/! The current price strcuture only includes room stay (about 2750/night). One has no option but to eat at its restaurant where there is no ala carte but just buffet or drive down to ITC Fortune for food. Now, the buffet at Ekaant costs about 400 for each lun/dn and the food is horrible. One of the worst dinner buffet i have had. So the next day we drove to ITC for dinner and the food was top notch for 500 bucks. I would anyday spend that extra 100 and get million times better food and more variety.
However, other than the food and the limited facilities in the hotel - ths place is great with kind staff and amazing atmosphere.
