Great atmosphere, great landlady, good food, great dog, reasonable wine selection. They just need to ban smoking in all areas.

We came here for lunch on a Sunday. Place was quiet when we got there so we ordered straight away. There were 6 of us but two had kids meals and the other meals were easy meals. We waited over 40 minutes for our food to come out. Had fish and chips and kids nugget meal. All these two meals tasted of were oil which was disappointing because the batter was lovely and crunchy but you couldn't taste the difference between the fish and chicken nuggets because of the oil taste. Chicken parma had a very odd taste, like very strong ginger. Potato pizza was very average too. Only saving grace was the baked potato which was beautiful and the kids sausage meal. Its the first time my son has eaten a whole meal when we have gone out so kudos to that!
Probably a good place to have a drink and listen to some music but wouldn't recommend the meals. Staff were lovely and friendly too.

I took my mother in law for her birthday on 27 July 2018 for dinner and was absolutely gobsmacked! Exceptional good food and service at a reasonable price. We all enjoyed our meals, in fact one of the best blue steaks I can remember ever happening, the entree plate for the 3 of us was to die for, the salad accompanying our main meal was tasty and unique - so different to the normal garden salad..The service was also exceptional, the young lady (who I believe was the owner)caught on that it was Lilly's birthday and organised a complimentary serve of their signature dish of their large eclair with candles, not only a lovely touch but the custard was a an extraordinary culinary delight. And all reasonably priced! This was all complimented with good music from the main bar area. If only the city and suburban areas of Melbourne were as good as this little gem!

Was told about this place and googled up fact they open limitedl hours. Saw an open time on Saturday of 8am. Got there at 8.15 and not open. Went back at 8.30 to find someone there - but about to leave and be back in five minutes. Not good enough. Hours are short enough that surely you can be on time. I was prepared to spend good money - but you have to be on time to get it. This is allegedly a town reliant in part, on tourists and visitors!!??

Have tried The Cavity on more than one occasion and I am never disappointed by the food. Eggs are always cooked perfect, and the chef really knows how to cook bacon! The only downsides would be the slow service, which is expected in a small place with little staff, and the chef puts what I’m assuming is paprika on everything! Other than that though, great place for breakfast!
