We stayed here for 2 nights on our drive from New Orleans to Clearwater. The check in was quick and rooms very clean. Apparently this resort has only been open since 2011 and the rooms/corridors etc do seem very new. The bathroom could have been a lot more modern though I feel.
The hotel is on the beach and has a fun lazy river we are in our 30s and used it quite a few times its for all ages! It is also within a 5 min walk to restaurant and bars. We also had 50% off breakfast buffet as part of the social media deal but I felt that the buffet breakfast could have been better as we have had the same selection for free at other hotels for the same price as we've paied for our room at other hotels.

Dear lollipop9,

Thanks for choosing us for your 2 night stay. Good to know you took advantage of the social media deal. You are right, FUN can be had in the Lazy River pool!

We appreciate your honest opinion about the breakfast and I will share these thoughts with the restaurant manager and chef.

Glad you came!

My wife and I enjoyed our short weekend stay. Friendly staff from front to back. Clean and quiet rooms. Pool gate to the beach slams loudly like an old southern screen door. Great location, lots of activities and restaurants within walking distance.

Dear trvlust,

We are glad you chose to stay with us and enjoyed your weekend getaway. It is a nice area to walk around and see what's happening.

We will take a look at the gate leading out to the beach and see if we can quiet it down a bit, however, it has to be heavy, due to the winds that pick up every now and again.

Thank you for sharing!

Let's face it - 50-75% of Holiday Inns are dumps or close to - and the remainder are updated and not bad. Then you come to the Holiday Inn Resort in Pensacola Beach. Just as the pictures show on the website - is exactly as the hotel is. Bright, modern, and clean - very "happy."

First off, if you made the decision to come to Pensacola Beach instead of Destin and Panama City, you like quiet, uncrowded, out of the way.

This hotel - just a year and a half old - fits the bill. In October anyway, the weather was beautiful - but you got to use the lazy river pool without kids everywhere. The resort is Disney-like spotless. You could put a Hilton or Marriott sign on the front door, and I'd believe it. The only thing not resroty is that there is no bell hop or concierge. But the front desk gave great food recommendations - and a coupon to Hemingways....our favorite dinner place.

The laz river is great. Also great is the path to the beach. You don't have to walk the long way to the beach through the sand. A nice bridge takes you halfway over so there is little walking to do.

Gameroom for the kids - it's small - but one machine is free - where you can play Galaga, Pacman, and other fun old games.

This is just the best Holiday Inn - and far from the old, crusty gross ones at Destin and Fort Walton.

One other great thing - the walkability. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, parasailing, etc...it's all within walking distance.

One bad thing - as at all Holiday Inns - the breakfast buffet was lacking - for $14, you should have more fruit than bad looking grapes and under ripe strawberries. During the week there is no buffet - our made to order eggs seemed to come from a milk carton. Lucky for you, the Native Cafe (yum) is just two blocks away.

We loved the quietness of the area, the uncrowded beach conditions, the laz river, and the extra clean grounds.

I'm glad we discovered this gem.

Dear TravelManSouth,

We will take "happy"...thank you!

You are right, fall is the perfect time of the year to enjoy the beach setting without the crowds. The lack of traffic puts relaxing at a very good pace. The short walks to a variety of good restaurants is enough to stretch your bones and feel the warmth of the sunshine.

Floating around in the Lazy River without a care in the world...that's what our backyard offers!

We appreciate the kind words about our property, our staff works very hard to keep the place looking GREAT!

Glad you noticed!

(10/16/12) Woke up at 2:30 a.m. to bed bugs crawling all over our bed! The site of active bugs and blood on the sheet and pillow cases is disgusting! What upset us more was the poor response of the front desk. She was polite and sorry but offered little to no help in finding a place to spend the rest of the night. Apparently the Holiday Express on the beach has different owners, she called them and they quoted me a rate higher than what I was already paying for just a 4 hour stay!

I have not heard from management at the hotel, accept, when I had to call them the next morning to make sure my credit card was not charged for the room. The night clerk couldn't do it. Holiday Inn Customer service just forwards your complaint to the hotel general manager.

I am sure their response will be that they have never had this problem and that we must have brought them in with us. We never layed anything on the bed, checked in after 9 p.m. and didn't go to bed until after midnight.

Run Forrest Run from this place.

Dear Tom W,

We at the Holiday Inn Resort are very apologetic to you and your wife. Your experience, finding bed bugs in your room, is certainly a horrible situation. A bed bug infestation is terrible! This issue has been handled in a very serious manner. The few times that it does occur in any hotel, it is revealed through regular inspection or guest incidence. Only until it is revealed can proper treatment be rendered.

The front desk clerk accomodated your wishes to check out immediately. She was able to secure a room with a nearby hotel. All room charges were reversed. A management staff member was notified as soon as she came on her shift. You phoned shortly after her arrival and confirmed the reversal of your room charges. We feel all appropriate action has been taken.

We certainly feel that this is an isolated incident and have taken all precautions necessary. We hope you give our hotel another chance. We are sure you will enjoy your stay!

For further support, please contact Charlie Allen, CHA, General Manager by phone/email...(850) 932-5331/callen@innisfree.com.

Truly sorry!

Dear classie50,

We are glad you had a great visit to Pensacola Beach. We ARE very conveniently located to most of the attractions, restaurants and shops. The Observation Wheel, is brand new to the beach this summer. It has plenty of spacious pods, so waiting in line is never an issue.

The corner rooms on the higher floors sound-side do have the best of both worlds with a balcony view, mostly of the Santa Rosa Sound and partially of the Gulf of Mexico. They have slightly more room than standard rooms.

We will be looking forward to your return!
