All the accolades in other reviews are true. The Holiday Inn Express Pensacola Beach deserves its #1 rating. Although it may be a bit more expensive than other nearby options, it's probably worth it. First, the staff are exceptional. They keep the place immaculate and are very friendly. We met the manager who explained the history of the hotel and its reinvention into a HIE after Hurricanes Ivan and Dennis. She explained how the total remodeling was done with the aim of being allergy friendly. For a beach front hotel it was amazingly free of mold and must. My allergy sensitive wife usually suffers at most hotels, but had no problems here. All rooms face the beach and have nice little patios with two plastic chairs. The building is directly on the dune close to the surf so you hear the crashing waves. Some older photos show a wide beach in front of the hotel, but they were pre-hurricanes. Ivan and Dennis reshaped the island and the surf is now much closer to the hotel. The white fine sand still makes this a fabulous beach, it's just not as wide as yesteryear. For $30 you can rent 2 lounge chairs and beach umbrella set up on the beach by a rental company not affiliated with the hotel for the entire day. Breakfast is the typical HIE fare, but the staff keeps it well stocked and very clean. The rooms are very clean and well furnished including a small fridge and room safe. Microwaves are not in the rooms, but there is one in the breakfast area that guests may use all day. There are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity, so we kept cold cuts in the refridgerator for lunches. The parking lot had ample spaces available plus there is a convenient trolley if you don't want to drive. Overall this is a great hotel, but to set your expectations please remember this is a Holiday Inn Express not the Ritz. Although their staff is so exceptional, in this respect its better than a Ritz!

As older folks we enjoyed this hotel and give it a 5 star rating across the board. A little bit away from the hustle and bustle of the city so much more quieter crowd. A few miles down the way is Fort Pickens National Park which is beautiful. Staff is so attentive and everyone is so polite. Wish we could have stayed longer than 3 nights. Only negative is the pool is not as big as we would have liked and they had no Jacuzzi. Breakfast bar was the standard HIE but the young ladies were right on it and keep it well stocked.

Room Tip: All rooms on the gulf are a good choice. Balcony does get warm as the air conditioner vents out on...

This hotel is in a truly wonderful location. Right on the beach with every room overlooking it. However, the staff deserve the highest plaudits for their whole approach to making their guests feel special. The front desk team don't only book you in but constantly make eye contact and give a greeting as guests cross the lobby. The breakfast crew all individually wish you a good morning. We had a problem with a very noisy fridge and I bumped into the maintenance man late on in the evening man on the way to get some ice. I mentioned it so that at least it was on his list the next day .... We had a new fridge within 5 minutes with sincere apologies and all done with such good grace and cheer. The rooms are immaculate. The pool is spotless. Beach towels are freely available and they are good big soft ones! The breakfast is plentiful. The management team for this hotel are to be commended. We intended staying one night, but extended to another. Well done guys the place is lovely.

I stayed at the holiday inn express with my daughter and granddaughters last month . We normally go to destin and stay in a beachfront condo so I was a little apprehensive about a hotel . Overall it was a great experience. The front desk staff especially Tyler (he needs to be promoted) were friendly and helpful . We loved the location on Pickens road. That part of the beach is less crowded and really beautiful. The breakfast buffet was good and there is a employee named Melanie that always had a smile on her face as she worked hard to keep the buffet stocked . The room was a good size and our group of 4 did not feel crowded. There were a few minor negatives . Pool area is small but we were there for the gorgeous beach so not a big deal . Also the power goes off in the room if more than one hair dryer or straighter is plugged in. This had a huge impact on 4 females getting ready for dinner. People should also keep in mind that except for the breakfast buffet there are no other dining options or food available at the hotel . There are however many dining options close by. I also felt that the hotel was overpriced however it seemed to be on par with other Pensacola hotels. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay again and recommend the hotel to others.

This was an excellent hotel with beautiful ocean front balcony in every room. It is clean and that is something that I really look for. The room, the balcony, the bathroom, the exercise room, the eating area, the pool were all clean. The beds were very comfy and we had no problems sleeping while we were there. The staff were all very nice and we got smiles from everyone, not just the front desk. The breakfast was well stocked and had a great assortment of items to choose from. We were on the 5th floor and it made the view even better. The hotel is far enough away from the crowds on the beach, but close enough that we could easily walk anywhere if we needed to. I would highly recommend this hotel and we plan to go back to the same place again when we revisit Pensacola Beach.

Just a great place. Super attentive staff. Very clean. Convenient to beach and pool. The hot breakfast was very nice to have. With good options for a quick breakfast. I especially liked the pancake machine. The area was kept well stocked and the tables cleaned quickly. The oranges and popcorn available all day was an added bonus.

Our rooms were always promptly cleaned. The only problem we had was that there is not a individual fan in each bathroom, so when you come out of the shower it was extremely hard to remove the steam and humidity. Or , to remove any "smells". Other than that the hotel was fantastic!!

Room Tip: We had a room on the second floor so we didn't have to use the elevators. But it did not appear...
