We were hungry! We were cold! We came into Pensacola Beach late, through fog developing over the inlets, and just after some of the coldest weather that the Gulf Coast has ever had, and after putting our heads into two extremely smoky bars, and inquiring at a sports bar that had a half hour wait we happened to see the sign for Red Fish Blue Fish. It didn't look like it had indoor seating, although as we walked in we could see a couple of super looking bonfires on their beach with large happy groups gathered round in cushioned Adirondack chairs, but we asked if we could be "indoors" and found that their weather screens and California heaters had made their dining room cozy and warm. (No smoking either which seems to be a problem here along the AL/panhandle coast, it's allowed too much. Maybe the smokers hang outdoors on their sand beach?) And when the food came-- yum! Also, good well drinks were going for $5 up to 8 pm! We felt back in the Caribbean or at least California. We ordered the mullet fish pate/spread which came in two generous scoops with crispy home made tortilla chips, but our truly friendly and alert server Nadine, also asked if we'd like crackers as she'd noticed a lot of people preferred those with pate, and she brought that, too. We split a 2 piece basket of fish n' chips, two hot, light beer-battered, good-sized pieces of fish and a large bed of absolutely addictive fries -- agree with prior reviewer, this place has great fries!-- a simple but total enjoyable meal. It is often harder to do simple food well, but Red Fish Blue Fish has nailed it. Loved the funky mismatched chairs, and the unique candle lanterns on each table. Would love to come back to this place sometime when its warm and enjoy a bonfire or the outdoor feeling, but we were glad to be well fed and warm! Mixed patrons, tables of young couples, 'snowbirds', young families, millennial around the bonfires, and on this winter night a locals feel, but clearly somewhere anyone would feel at home! The attentive service was great. Our evening was saved by da Fish!
