Description: Inspired southern style. Simple yummy food from local ingredients. We invite you to relax and enjoy friends and family in our backyard with a view. We have the best 'backyard' on the beach with two white sand beaches, covered and grassy dining areas, lots for the kids to do, and a stylish cocktail bar. It's without a doubt the best place on the island to watch a sunset.

We were hungry! We were cold! We came into Pensacola Beach late, through fog developing over the inlets, and just after some of the coldest weather that the Gulf Coast has ever had, and after putting our heads into two extremely smoky bars, and inquiring at a sports bar that had a half hour wait we happened to see the sign for Red Fish Blue Fish. It didn't look like it had indoor seating, although as we walked in we could see a couple of super looking bonfires on their beach with large happy groups gathered round in cushioned Adirondack chairs, but we asked if we could be "indoors" and found that their weather screens and California heaters had made their dining room cozy and warm. (No smoking either which seems to be a problem here along the AL/panhandle coast, it's allowed too much. Maybe the smokers hang outdoors on their sand beach?) And when the food came-- yum! Also, good well drinks were going for $5 up to 8 pm! We felt back in the Caribbean or at least California. We ordered the mullet fish pate/spread which came in two generous scoops with crispy home made tortilla chips, but our truly friendly and alert server Nadine, also asked if we'd like crackers as she'd noticed a lot of people preferred those with pate, and she brought that, too. We split a 2 piece basket of fish n' chips, two hot, light beer-battered, good-sized pieces of fish and a large bed of absolutely addictive fries -- agree with prior reviewer, this place has great fries!-- a simple but total enjoyable meal. It is often harder to do simple food well, but Red Fish Blue Fish has nailed it. Loved the funky mismatched chairs, and the unique candle lanterns on each table. Would love to come back to this place sometime when its warm and enjoy a bonfire or the outdoor feeling, but we were glad to be well fed and warm! Mixed patrons, tables of young couples, 'snowbirds', young families, millennial around the bonfires, and on this winter night a locals feel, but clearly somewhere anyone would feel at home! The attentive service was great. Our evening was saved by da Fish!

We enjoyed the somewhat non-traditional menu. Fried Brussels sprouts on a burger? Why, yes! Never would have thought of this combination but I enjoyed it. The restaurant is designed to be an open air type restaurant (no exterior walls) but the clear plastic sides and heaters made the temperature comfortable even though the outside temp was near freezing. Very good atmosphere!

It's worth taking in the views of the intracoastal waterway in the laid back cool atmosphere of the restaurant, esp on a beautiful day, but the food has been a bit odd the 3 times we've tried here. They can do french fries, but throw in the gourmet "slaw".. kind of pickled.. and a chicken dish consisting mainly of a whole bunch of onions, and your'e left scratching your head...seafood is average..ok it's been 3 months since we've been here, and maybe there've been some changes, so given the atmosphere, we'll give it another shot when better weather gets here.

Thank you for visiting our property. We will continue to make necessary menu changes to accommodate our guests and valuable feedback like this will help us get us where we want to be. We do take pride in our fresh preparation of everything. We do not have a freezer on our property so we cut and prep our fries, fish and everything in between daily. Our fish is brought in each day so our fish of the day is a constant change. Hopefully you will visit us when the weather warms up and we can offer you something "less odd" and more to your liking. We have made some changes and do offer some different slaws and salads since the last time you were here. If there is a particular fish you would like us to offer, call a day ahead and we will have it here for you! Thanks again for your review, your comments are very helpful.

Fun restaurant to have lunch by the water. Most tables are outside. Service is great, very friendly. Food was good, not great. Margaritas pretty cheap and good. The location and the way it is set up make it a place to go if you stay by the beach

Thank you for taking time out to let us know about your experience. I am glad you were able to enjoy or $1 margaritas we offer every Tuesday in the off season. I apologize we didn't meet your expectations on your meal. I hope you can give us a little more details on the food you tried. I am confident we have a wide variety of flavors that will please your palate and hopefully you will join us again in the future and give us another shot. Thank you again for your review.

I will start with saying that the service was prompt and friendly. Also, their location is pretty nice with a good outdoor view of the water. I ordered the cold noodle salad with chicken. For a $10 meal it was lacking. It was really a bed of slaw with a thin piece of previously frozen chicken (which tasted like fish I'm sure from sharing the grill). Needed more noodles and more mint. My husband was equally disappointed with his bayou po boy. Significantly lacking in quality and taste for a $12 sandwich. There are several fun appetizers on the menus. We opted for the tempura asparagus and it was way too oily. However, their dipping sauces are very tasty. The beer selection was also disappointing or we might have considered coming back for an afternoon to enjoy the location and a frosty brew. Service is good and so is the atmosphere but the food is not worth the trip.

Thank you for your informative review. I have shared your review with our entire kitchen crew and we will make the necessary changes to our food preparations to avoid the issues that you encountered. As for the beer selection, that is something we are changing constantly to get the best selection possible that will work with our very limited storage space. We are also going to offer 2 draft beers from the Pensacola Bay Brewery upon multiple guest request for a draft option. Please come back, even if it's for a couple of beers on us and let us know what you would like to see on our menu. Thanks again for your time and feedback.
