the views written above must be about another ellesmere hotel and not the actual ellesmere hotel in the town of ellesmere, shropshire as this public house has never had a piano player in its life and there is no hotel called the black horse around the corner from it both reviews contain other false accusations which rubbishes both previous reviews. i would be very grateful if you would properly check out your facts and make sure you have the right address for the right hotel before you publish these fictional stories as it is highly damaging to this hotels reputation this pile of garbage you have put by their name, would be delighted if you would correct this as soon as possible yours sincerely a very happy ellesmere hotel employee

This hotel was so bad that we left straight away and ended up checking into another hotel around the corner.

It's basically a few rooms above a dodgy, rowdy and rundown pub. The owners don't seem to have any enthusiasm to rent out the rooms, I was greeted with apathy from the barman both when checking in (at the bar) and leaving 20 minutes later. The rooms were sparse, dirty, damp and in a terrible condition.

I found this hotel via their website, the person i booked it through admitted that their website was left behind from previous owners and they didn't know how to change it. I should have noticed at the time that there were no photos of the hotel itself (I'd not discovered this site by then!)

Ended up at the Black Horse around the corner which was a lovely place to stay

My partner and I and eight of our friends were booked to stay here as we were all attending a friends wedding over the weekend. We simply did a search of places to stay in the area close to where the wedding was taking place and based our decision on details on the website and the fact they had enough room to be able to accomodate all of us. Our first mistake was not listening to our instincts which
asked us "why were the pictures on their website all of 'Ellesmere' and none of the hotel itself". On our return home I had to check the website again as I honestly thought we had arrived at the wrong place. The desciption on the website bears no resemblance to the reality in any way. The only thing which was true was the prices, address and telephone number.

We arrived on the Friday afternoon. We drove round twice as we couldn't believe that the building which said it was the Ellesmere Hotel was actually the place we were expecting to stay. Sadly it was
........but we parked up and walked through into the bar area. The piano player stopped playing and all the people sitting in the smoke filled lounge stopped their conversations to stare at us. So this is what they descibe as........."We pride ourselves on the friendly welcome we give to all our guests and ensure that they enjoy their stay with us".

Much against our better judgement we continued to check in, thinking it really couldn't get any worse and convincing oursleves that all we
needed was a place to get ready for the wedding and sleep.

Our room was overlooking the car park which we discovered later was frequented by the gangs of bored local teenagers, late into the evening. That's putting it politely.

The room was filthy. There was a thick layer of dust all around the edge of the carpet and skirting boards. The floor was so uneven the wardrobe looked more like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The bathroom suite was 'painted' brown and the paint was chipped and damaged, as was the toilet seat.

This was enough and we decided we couldn't stay. We were lucky to find alternative accommodation (being it was literally last minute on a bank holiday weekend).

I think we made the right decision to leave when the delightful
'lady' behind the bar called my friend a 'Smart [----]'. She certainly is smart, and so will you be if you take heed of this review and DO NOT STAY AT THE ELLESMERE HOTEL.
