“Amazing”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

Lunch took roughly 3 hours, This place is absolutely fantastic, we ate in the rainy Taiwanese mountains surrounded by naturally flowing streams, waterfalls and rock formations in historic feeling tea-house structures. The food is very Eastern (obviously) - lots of vegetables, fish and sea food.

“An experience!”
Reviewed November 28, 2011

I visited Shi-Yang for lunch today with some other wives while our husbands were in business meetings in Taipei. It is a drive to get there to this lush sub-tropical place that is in the Wuzhi recreation area. Lovely setting. Set meal of Japanese food. Beautiful presentation and good service. I tried many things I hadn't tried before like sea urchin, abalone and salami hand rolls. I would've enjoyed more if could have stayed and walked the trails after the huge meal, but that wasn't part of the plan with our guide. I took pictures of all the courses. If you like Japanese and sushi and are an adventuresome eater, it was good. Don't know price though, so can't speak as to value. I wouldn't drive to NW Taiwan just to eat there again, but if you will be near there, it was lovely

“WOW. A discovery of the senses”
Reviewed November 10, 2011

We never expected to find such a beautiful, tucked-away restaurant like this in Taipei.
Located on a beautiful hill in the countryside, this has to be one of Taiwan's best kept secrets (an in-the-know Taipei friend recommended it to us). The venue is perfectly geared to the natural surroundings it is situated in with small private rooms (and some larger ones), sliding screens, natural wood, polished stones, and a bubbling brook. The meal is set with every course a feast for eyes and palette. A bare twig may decorate a plate of vegetables, polished pebbles an arrangement of crab. A flower opens as it is dropped into a bowl of warm soup. Such flair, such creativity! In keeping with the natural environment, no alcohol (including beer and wine) is served. A true experience when you have the time and are in the frame of mind to focus on one's companions, life, and all its bounty.
