“the best hotel in Taiwan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Hi All you travellers going to Taiwan (if you want the best and most convenient hotel this is the one)
5 star rating for everything the hotel had to offer . I have travelled for 40 years and this would be one of the best run hotels i have stayed in. 7 Elevens and mini marts close by ,Large supermarket 10mins walk ,couple of minutes walk to train stations from there you can go anywhere just buy a day pass at the counter( 150 ntd ) that is so cheap for a day (this connects to the fast train station which goes from north to the south of the island in 90mins stopping only 6 times (it is a must do magnificent country side in the trip)
The city is as clean as Singapore . Cars and motorbikes are a plenty but so easy to get anywhere as the 3 different train systems which are mostly underground and buses are everywhere plus all taxis are metered so you dont get ripped off ( just learn a few words in there language as english is not spoken that much but we got through).
Hope this helps all

My wife was at a conference here in April and we found the hotel to be very nice. The rooms were spotless, as were most things in Taipei, and the staff extremely pleasant. The restaurant int eh lobby had a great breakfast spread and we ate dinenr here, and the food was quite good. I would recommend it. It is about a 5 minute walk to the Metro and Night market.

Spacious, clean, good amenities.
Although not at the heart of Taipei but very convenient if one wants to go shopping ...walk, met or cab.
Besides all basic amenities, and free wifi, there were also free self service laundry facilities. The cafe for breakfast was too small, though.
If given the opportunity, I may book the same hotel.

Although I did not actually sleep here I had reason to visit this place on about a dozen occasions during the World Baseball Qualifying tournament.
The food is good, the rooms are well appointed and very clean and even when there are busy with four international teams all staying there they seemed to have everything under control. The ENglish spoken is pretty good and the service is outstanding. I would be more then happy to stay here when I next return.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view across the river.

During our eight-day trip around Taiwan, my family of five stayed at the Chateau de Chine in Taipei. The hotel's lobby had good ambience. I stayed in a twin room with two queen-sized beds, while my mother slept in a room with three single beds.

The room itself was somewhat spacious (should I have recalled correctly, for I checked the website to see if this was indeed the hotel) compared to hotels back home in Singapore. Everything was in proper order - standard five-star hotel. The beds were a winning point for me - they were not too soft, nor too hard, which makes for great sleep quality. Wi-fi was available in the room, free of charge (although my sisters' didn't receive any - their problem persisted with other hotels in the trip).

The breakfast was okay in my opinion. Standard buffet with Taiwanese and some Western fare. Service was very good. Hotel was pretty clean all-round. All in all, it was a very good hotel. We booked this as part of an eight-day tour, so we don't really know the pricing, but if you ever chance about this hotel during your stay, expect good quality.

If you have to be in New Taipei, there doesn't seem to be too many choices of good hotels. So settle for Chateau de Chine. It's a block from the MRT, quick to the airport and close to a night market, and to Fu Jen University. Otherwise, there is not much going for the neighborhood. As for the hotel itself, the room is very comfortable and spacious - all the amenities are there and in good taste and quality. A blinking light bulb had the housekeeping visiting immediately. Quality of cooking is quite good, although the same breakfast everyday does get a little tedious if you are there for 5 days. Service at reception is quite good, although you get a bit of a feeling that they are there to make sure you are kept in line. The lifts are too few for the large numbers of tourist groups, and seating in the cafe is also a bit too tight for the tourist busses. So if don't have expectations built up by the hotel's website, it's all quite OK.
