10 mins from the Matakohe Kauri Museum is a charming rural B & B hosted by Linda (Kiwi) and Guy (French). They offer warm hospitality and wonderful home cooked meals in their tastefully decorated home. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay and highly recommend it to everyone.

Matakohe has one of New Zealand's best museums (The Kauri Museum) and one of the loveliest B and B spots on the North Island. On a hilltop outside of town, Linda and Guy Bucchi have re-created a bit of Provence--in the furniture and decor, in the cuisine (you can have a delicious five-course meal), in the sensibilities and creative energies of both hosts. Linda is a fine cook who uses local and organic produce and dishes up a fabulous spread from her small kitchen. From before-dinner drinks on the veranda while enjoying the panoramic views to a farewell visit to Guy's workshop (he creates beautiful and fanciful iron metal furniture), the atmosphere is warm, engaging, and personal. If you need a more "professional" opinion, check out Ewan McDonald's review in the Auckland Herald (Oct. 21, 2008).
