Visited for lunch and a cream tea, the tea rooms are very pretty and so peaceful. Staff very friendly and an interesting place to visit due to its history. The food could not be faulted! The gardens looked pretty but we thought we'd go and visit the abbey instead - wished we'd paid the £5 at docton mill when we realised it was £10.50 at the abbey!

Had a friend staying who is a gardener herself, so we chose Docton Mill for a walk round and a bite of lunch. Originally we only stopped at the tearoom for coffee before doing the gardens, but then looked at the menu and chose a Prawn baguette and a Lundy crab and smoked salmon salad! Both were absolutely delicious. The staff were lovely, friendly and welcoming, and other food coming out to tables looked scrumptious, so much so, that when we saw the cream tea, we vowed to come back for one later! We borrowed a map, and followed it around the various parts of the gardens, except we didn't walk down to the waterfall as it was a very hot day. The gardens were well laid out, and although we were experiencing somewhat of a heatwave, the plants looked in good condition, & were colourful and fragrant. The cream tea didn't disappoint either, and although we shared one between two, it was plenty as the scone was huge and warm, and was served with lashings of clotted cream and jam. Wonderful - would definitely recommend it!

Docton Mill does not only offer lovely gardens for all ages but good food as well. Try their tasty sandwiches and great cream tea.

Me and my partner have been here twice. The gardens are lovely but when it comes to the hyped up tea room it isn't that great. We had soup which was quite over priced and bland then scones with jam and cream which were just as good as anywhere else. What really let's this place own is the staff/owners. We got the impression that as they were getting ready to close for the year they couldn't be bothered and were quite ignorant . We felt quite rushed and not welcome. Wouldn't go again . The tea room in morwenstowe in fab in comparison .
