We were not impressed by the animals (and even less by the bug collection) as we had visited other parks with a much more impressive variety of species but we enjoyed a lot the hike through the forest. The most interesting part was walking on the suspended wooden bridges that link the trees and that allow you to observe the tropical forest from the top of the trees. Nice Tarzan adventure!

This small park is located on the Route de la Traversee, on the west end near Mahaut. The beautiful setting is the mountainous tropical rainforest of Guadeloupe's National Park. The park is clean and well organized, where you follow a trail, along which you can observe either animals or trees and plants. There also is a tree-top walk on suspended wooden bridges in one section. Entrance fee is 13 euros per adult. Overall, an impressive site in a beautiful setting... a must-do while in Guadeloupe.

This zoo is more like a tropical forest hike with animals on the side. Wear your hiking strap ons shoes or something that has good grip.

The animals variety is not huge, but the fact that this zoo is built into a tropical forest setting is definitely impressive.

There are even suspended bridges between the trees so that you can a feel of what it's like to be high up in the trees. The view up there is amazing. (my pictures do not do its justice; the real thing was a lot better)

Everything is in French, so not much to read for me.

Entrance fee is 13EU for adults

I really appreciate the experience in the zoo and how they introduce visitors to the various viewing areas. You can get really nice shots and it really calm which help make the visit more enjoyable.
A must to visit in Guadeloupe, will however appreciate that toilet and refreshments area by made more accessible instead of having to cross the street to the restaurant on the other side.
You must also carry drinks because the tour takes sometimes.

We brought our 6-year old daughter here, not expecting much more than your average animal park, and boy were we surprised! The entire park is completely integrated within the mountainous tropical rainforest of Guadeloupe's National Park, and the setting is absolutely spectacular. Small pathways cut through thick swaths of forest leading to many different (mainly) local species. The animals all look extremely healthy and well looked after, and simply walking through the park is a marvel. Another highlight is the Canope...(canopy in English), a treetop circuit of wooden suspension bridges through the jungle. There is a smaller circuit for younger kids as well.
Across the street from the park, we had a nice lunch at the cafe which serves salads sandwiches in an ecofriendly environment. Everything is compostable and recyclable. And there is also a great ziplining park there called Le Tapeur - with courses through the rainforest for adult thrill seekers and children alike. My daughter adored the children's course, which takes about 20 minutes but you can do it as many times as you like.
In short, the Parc des Mamelles and it's surroundings are not to be missed!
