A nice spot next to Zion Lodge to grab a snack. Had an ice cream cone and a beer after hiking down from Scout's Lookout which was a prefect end to the day.

When you are in a national park, you are a bit of a captive audience, and the Castle Dome Cafe knows it. The cafe has standard fare (hamburgers, hot dogs, large pizza slices) at marked up prices. A hamburger, fries, and drink ran about $10 (you can get a combo instead with chips, but the savings was only $.25). As a vegetarian, I was happy that they had a veggie burger offering. The food was a bit too hardy after a morning of touring in the hot, crowded park, but there were some healthier options, but you would have to be very creative on how you got your protein.

Seating was limited. Admittedly, we visited on the Saturday before Memorial Day, which was apparently one of the busiest days the park has seen. People were circling the tables like the condors above. Several people just decided to sit in the grass under a tree and make their meal a picnic, which is a lovely choice. We managed to get a table and invited a woman who was sitting on the wall to join us. We had a lovely meal and conversation with her, and I think the beauty of the Zion (which is the best thing that the cafe going for it by far), made it a memorable experience. The cafe, food, and value itself is just ok. It served its purpose of recharging us and sending us further on our way.

This is just a simple take-away cafe so we did not have a high expectation. However it's pretty poor, junky food, a bit chaotic and smells of ketchup and old fried onions. Only to be recommended if you like this sort of cheap and quick place. I think it could be so much better but probably relies on its location. We sat outside and this was fine - lovely location.

They have burgers, hot dogs, french fries, chips, pretzels, nachos (with just cheese), sandwiches (tuna, chicken salad, turkey), salads, yogurt, fruit, cookies and soda. Also a separate area for soft serve ice cream and smoothies. Service was fast. Food was decently priced for an attraction - hamburger ($6.50) tuna sandwich ($5.50) pretzel with cheese ($4.50 - this was a bit pricey) french fries ($2.50). Seating is at a bare minimum - but you can sit on the wall if there are no tables. People moved out pretty fast. Just what you need if you are doing the park in a day.

The best attribute of the Castle Dome Café is it’s location: adjacent to the lodge in the heart of the park. You’ll stand in line to order, but can eat on the outside beer garden patio. Consider that they have a monopoly on “grab-and-go” eating; the food was pricy ($2.50 for a cup of coffee) with some menu items better than others. Pizza not bad, sausage biscuit good, hamburgers bad, yogurt with granola good (but then, it’s hard to mess up yogurt). We stayed at the lodge and packed a lot of hiking and sightseeing into three days, so we appreciated the convenience of the location. The view from the adjacent outdoor beer garden, where there are tables at which to eat, is spectacular.
