This place is absolutely wonderful, our Home Away from Home (Where the Buffalo Roam). Zion is one of the world's most beautiful spots, and the Ranch complements it perfectly.

We stayed as a couple with our toddler. We came for the farm-to-table restaurant, which exceeded even our high expectations, perhaps because of the friendliness of the staff. We in Cabin 133, a lucky upgrade to the crown jewel of the Ranch. We've traveled across a dozen countries together and this was one of our very stays.

The log cabin was perfectly decorated in old west style with ample space and a lovely view of the canyon behind the ranch. The fireplace was the epitome of comfort in the chilly winter, and the champagne bubble bath was a treat at the end of the night. An unexpected highlight was the collection of Old West Time Life books from 1976 that spawned a renewed interest in the time period that defines the region.

A recommended tip is to get to the restaurant before sundown to experience the buffalo at sunset. Just magical!

We could not recommend this place more highly for people who enjoy privacy and rustic luxury.

Room Tip: The view of the buffalo also comes with a view of the road. We recommend a canyon view, and specifi...

The ranch is set up with individual log cabins. Very nice and private feeling, even though some of the cabins are close together. Our cabin overlooked the buffalo meadow. The cabin was clean, had nice finishes and furnishings and an adjustable heat propane stove in the sitting area. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had a large tiled walk-in shower and a big soaking tub. Since it was New Year's Eve there were fireworks at night at 10pm and it was so great viewing them from the front deck and from the much warmer sitting area in the cabin, looking out the front window. The restaurant next door is the reason I didn't give this place an excellent rating, and maybe that isn't fair, but it is the only place to eat nearby. The fact that the restaurant didn't have their regular menu may have had something to do with my opinion of the place; it created a prix fixe menu from which we could choose 1 of 3 entrees, but there was no other choice regarding appetizer, salad, dessert, and, although the entree I chose was wonderful, the other 3 "courses" were a total disappointment. I couldn't get a salad instead of soup. The soup was a strange orange/coconut concoction that was supposed to be served hot but was lukewarm at best and didn't appeal to me. The dessert was a one-bite chocolate iced donut. Hmmmmm. I would have liked to have been able to order off their regular menu. I suppose they were expecting a huge crowd of people, but during the time we were there, between one-half and one-third of their tables were empty.

Room Tip: The cabins higher up on the ridge have more separation between them and more sunshine.

We spent 2 nights in a very nice cabin overlooking a small pond. We woke up to a beautiful view with deer and buffalo. We were very pleasantly surprised by the nice restaurant and the delicious breakfast. We returned for dinner that was the perfect end to a great evening of sitting on the deck of the cabin watching the deer and bison. The restaurant is very warm and inviting with a great ambiance and atmosphere. It was very enjoyable to have such a fine dining experience in a western rustic setting. The food was exceptional and the server (manager) was excellent very professional. They take the time to do things right we had fresh vegetable and herbs from the green house. You truly get the from "farm to fork feeling". We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will definately be back.

We visited here off-season and it made a real difference to our stay. We arrived at around 7.30pm after a long days travel in the snow to find the reception closed and the whole place in darkness - we weren't sure we were in the right place. It was only when we discovered our key in an envelope taped to the door with a hand-drawn map, so we drove over to find our lodge in the pitch black. After fumbling around in the dark we entered a freezing cold cabin, which took a long time to warm up. The on-site restaurant was closed, as were the pizza delivery places a few miles along the road, nothing else seemed close, so dinner was off. The TV had no reception, just a DVD player with no DVDs, so we felt very remote indeed.

Rising early in the morning to see the buffalo in the field, we found they also seemed to have retired for the year, leaving us with an empty view. However the buffalo breakfast in the restaurant more than made up for this - it was excellent, and the restaurant staff were very friendly, opposed to the reception staff who were, like the weather, a bit cold.

The ranch is well placed for Zion Lodge, (which is stunning), just a few miles from the East gate, and none of this was a problem, but it just lacked a little luxury. As I say, it's probably much more convenient in warmer seasons.

My husband and I booked a Buffalo Vista Honeymoon Suite for two nights via the ranch's own website. We absolutely loved it - a cosy imitation log burner (instant heat and so easy to use), a porch complete with swing, views over the buffalo ranch and your very own hot tub!! The Buffalo Grill offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and is a couple of minutes walk from the cabins - see separate review.

The ranch is about 5 minutes drive from the park. We went out of season so we were free to drive around the whole park and not have to take the shuttle bus. Take provisions with you as the only places to buy food and drink are outside the boundaries and most shut down in the winter anyway. We found a great place called Cafe Soleil right near the (I think) south entrance that does takeaway sandwiches, smoothies etc.

Give yourself a couple of days at least to explore the park and pick up a guide map from the visitors centre. Zion is one of the most awe-inspiring places we have ever been to and made Grand Canyon look like a disappointing hole in the ground!

I stayed here on my honeymoon just after Presidents' Day weekend and it was perfect. It was deserted so we got upgraded to the top cabin for 1 person; never guaranteed but great that they did this for us. The bison walked past our cabin at sunrise and back past at sunset both of which we're magical times to be in Zion. The restaurant was gorgeous. Log fires, candles, really intimate and great food. We stayed in February so it was very quiet but I think I would have no hesitations coming back during a busier period. I am a travel agent and recommend this place all the time to my customers; it's sooooo worth it.

Room Tip: Go for an upgraded cabin if you can so you're overlooking the meadow. It feels really private th...

My family and I stayed at the Zion Mountain Ranch this past weekend. The cabin was exceptionally clean and quite large. It had a Jacuzzi tub in it, which was relaxing!

The patio and the view were great. On Saturday, we got to see the Buffalo herd come to the ranch, which my son loved.

Only negatives - The TV in the living room was of poor quality (the one in the bedroom was excellent). Once they get every cabin to have wifi, this will be an easy spot to take the family up to - so dad can get some work done. They have told me this is in the works.

Food at the restaurant was better than expected.

I recommend this place very much.

Room Tip: Get a cabin with a view. Spend the extra 40 or 50 a night and upgrade.
