Owner description: A narrow side ravine that joins Zion Canyon and offers scenic hiking trails.

This hike starts out with a climb up some switchbacks and then crosses some cliff faces to access a hanging slot canyon. We did this one with a 5 and 7 year old in tow. We made sure we had a hand on each child and that they kept a hand on the chains at all times when we crossed the areas with a lot of exposure. No worries with the exception of my wife. Once you get past the cliffs there is a nice sculpted canyon to explore. With just a little bit of scrambling you can work your way up to to a small freestanding arch. Not far past the arch a sign indicates the canyon beyond is closed to foot traffic. Kids liked this one a lot. Be sure to explore the sculpted pools where Hidden canyon meets Zion canyon - we spotted a lot of tadpoles in them.

Hidden Canyon is the combination of impressive drop-offs, adventure and tamed challenge all packaged in a reasonably short hike (couple hours). Not sure why this hike is not more popular, but it is enjoyably free of crowds.

Many people hike Hidden Canyon & Observation Point on the same day. I am so glad we separated them as we found Hidden Canyon to be too pretty and enjoyable to have to squeeze into an Observation Point Hike.

There are chains and steep drop-offs, but nothing as harrowing as Angel's Landing.
I recommend advancing past the official end of the trail. There is another half of mile that can be scrambled & hiked through shady trees and sandy mounds enclosed by mossy walls. The hike then ends at a 30 ft arch (which my husband to climb of course!).

Great hike with hardly any hikers on the trail! Start early as it is very cool in the morning (8-10am). The sun does start to come in after 11am. Be sure to hike to the hidden arch at the end after the maintained trail ends. There will be areas where you have to hike on the edge of the canyon holding on to "chains". Beautiful views of Angels Landing. Our kids were ages 12 and 14.

my daughter (12) and I did this and had such a wonderful experience!
didnt know much about it but ran into a hiker and said definitely worth seeing and he was right! not for people who are afraid of heights--and there are some chains but still safe enough to feel secure (not scary like angel's landing)
definitely a moderate and some strenuous parts of a hike
take your camera for sure!
