“Sunset Time”

Less busy, but still part of Zion, the northern half.

Plan a time to be there near sunset. The drive and all of the stopping points just beautiful this time of day.

“Not Worth the Trip”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

We toured Zion Park for a few days this summer, and absolutely loved it. On the final day we decided to go check out the "Back Country" section of Zion known as Kolob Canyons, and were very disappointed. We tried doing a hike, but the temp was significantly higher than in the main section of Zion, with no shade in sight. The views were disappointing compared to the spectacular vistas we saw in the other section or the park. It would have been better to spend the extra day in the main Zion, and skip Kolob Canyons all together.

“Well worth the detour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013

This is obviously the quiet, lesser known part of Zion National Park. If coming towards Zion from Las Vegas, do not turn off the I15 for Zion National Park and continue on the I15 to Kolob Canyon which has its own exit and is right by the I15. The scenic drive is only 5 miles long, but the scenery is fantastic and there are lots of view points. Even in August, not many people and it is nice being able to drive it ourselves.

It is well worth the time to make a quick drive through the Kolob Canyons section of Zion. The views are unique and stunning. A quick hike at the end of the drive will give you great views of the Colorado Plateau.
