By taking the free shuttle you can see and stop at the many places along the canyon in Zion. You'd spend hours..days here...I just was here for 2 days and just wasn't able to see it all.

Angels Landing, the Narrows, Weeping Rock..are among the famous stops...

Unless you take the bus. There is not much of a scenic route you can traverse on your own. Be prepared to sit on a crowded bus.

According to the National Parks Service website, "From March through November, access to the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is by free shuttle bus only. Private vehicles are allowed to access the Scenic Drive only when the Shuttle System is not in operation" (if you're staying within the canyon, you are allowed to drive to the lodge/cabins, otherwise you have to park at the visitor center at the South Entrance and take the shuttle in). However, a lot of people consider the entire drive from the East Entrance through the park tunnel and to the South Entrance (which you can use your own car for) all a part of the drive instead of what is just at the bottom of the canyon.

I actually visited in March 2018 and got to see snow within the park - this just added to the already awe-inspiring views. Thank goodness I was driving out of the park (from Springdale, through the tunnel and out the East Entrance) early on a Sunday morning so I could go really slow in order to take everything in.

Views in this park are outstanding! It’s like being down in the Grand Canyon. We entered from Kanab and drove to visitor center. There are several areas to pull over and take photos. The tunnels are amazing. Hop on the free shuttle for a lift to several stops. Easy hikes and more challenging ones for those experienced. Shuttle service very efficient running in both directions every 15 minutes or less. Planning on returning again in the future.

Really scenic drive. Enjoyed looking at the amazing cliffs and colors. We were able to drive our own car since my wife is disabled. You can get a special permit at the Welcome Center.
