“More than a Leisurely Hike - to be Average”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

Scenery was very nice en route to the pools (very small waterfall from an overhanging rock) but the pools were a touch disappointing but not so much we would not do it again. We enjoyed the hike up to the pools but there were a lot of people (and it was Memorial Weekend) and it was rather hot. Recommended if you want the scenery and the slightly challenging walk/hike but would be nicer if less people. People were quite disrespectful regarding getting into the water as the signs posted requested to not get into the water. The area did provide a nice shaded escape from the walk/hike up.

“Small brown ponds”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

Lots of people, not much water in June, and very ordinary looking ponds of water. The first pond has a nice overhanging rock wall with waterfalls you can walk behind, but there needs to be more water flowing than I saw on 2nd June to be really attractive.

“Where is the water?”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

This walk was easy and relaxing but the pools were not impressive as there was very little water. If you like a fast paced walk, just know most people on this trail seemed to stroll along leisurely. The scenery was nice and maybe in another park this would have stood out, but at Zion where almost everything is beautiful this hike was just average.

“Not so sure what the big deal is about this hike”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

Tons of people on this hike. Never saw anything emerald like. Take the upper grotto trail back from the upper emerald pool for some beautiful/amazing canyon views. (Do not go back the emerald pool route)

“Relaxing with some moderately good sights”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

Due to time restraints we only visited the first couple of ponds. Water was down this time of year but still had a chance to get drenched from the waterfall coming off the cliff and to enjoy the cool mist along the trail. The first pond is quite ugly to be honest, looks like a swamp with some boulders sticking out. However turn your head to the left and up and you will see some amazing rock structures, beautiful colors and a a cascading small waterfall. Probably worth the hike if you can't do the Angels landing or other hikes in the area.
