“Can drive into the park!”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

The best thing we liked about staying in the Zion Lodge was our red hang tag that let us drive into the park. We could drive to the visitor's center for their programs and stay in the lodge for the ones there. The shuttle ride to the end (Temple of Sinawava) wasn't long so that we could get around the park easily. Several trailheads were right at the lodge. Internet connection was good. The room was fine - but I don't even remember a lot about it - as the convenience of staying inside the park was the #1 plus.

Had a great stay. Staff was incredibly friendly :) loved our time spent in beautiful Zion! We hiked to the upper and lower pools, and saw deer sleeping just a few feet from us in the brush! Staff had said it was the most popular trail to go on and we are glad we went. All in all a great ezperience.

You do not stay in any of them if you want luxury accommodations or a lot of amenities. There is no air conditioning in most of them, and Zion Lodge is no exception. The properties are old. They have rooms in the main lodge and also cabins next to the lodge. These are just basic rooms of the motel variety. Nothing special.

There are so many lovely properties outside the park in Springdale,Utah that we opted for one of those. The only downside is that you have to take one shuttle from Springdale to the Visitor Center and then a 2nd shuttle from the Visitor Center to tour Zion Canyon. No cars allowed in Zion Canyon for most of the year. You have to take the shuttle.

Zion Lodge has not changed at all. Just as I remembered it from 30 years ago. There is something to be said for the historical aspect of the lodge, I suppose, but you can read about it as you tour the lobby and grounds. You do not have to stay there to appreciate it.:-))

Had been over 25 years since I last stayed in the park. Cabins were refurbished and looks like lodge is also updated. Housekeeping was slack as the cabin wasn't well cleaned. Front desk seemed to be responsive. Restaurant was inconsistent but generally the food and beverages were good. The shuttle buses really work. The area is wonderful. If you want posh, stay in Vegas. If you want nature, come here.

Room Tip: Ask the front door orientation of the room or cabin if you prefer one mountain view over another...

Green Features: Do a great job. Now if people treated it as well...ie dogs and kids in places unsupervised.

We've stayed in a couple of national parks, and found this to be typical. Very convenient to the attraction, wonderful location within very spectacular mountains. Spent a few dollars more than outside accommodations, but the location within the park give you free rein to be out and around at all hours, before the park officially opens and after it closes.

As others have said, the room wasn't anything special, but then again, no one's there to marvel at the accommodations. It's the beauty of the park that's the thing, and staying in the middle of all of it can't be beat.

Very attentive and helpful staff. Easy check in and check out.

Didn't think about a two story building with no elevator. Dragging heavy stuff up wasn't the end of the world, but for older folks who visit National Parks, it's a negative. It's offset for the most part by the beauty of the location, convenience and so forth, but for those who are challenged by stairs, it would be good to inquire about first floor availability when making reservations.

The Lodge has a pretty good restaurant. Reservations are a must. Decent food, at decent prices, for both dinner and breakfast.

Shuttle bus stop located on the far side of the Lodge, just a few feet away. We took the bus to the last stop and worked our way back to each of the stops in between, for viewing. We're not fit enough to climb the trails or to do a lot of walking, so the availability of the shuttle that runs very frequently makes it easy to get around.

Everything considered, it was a good choice and I would recommend it.

David M.

Room Tip: Second floor has no elevator.

Our next stop after St George Utah was Zion National Park and we decided to stay at the Zion Lodge - what a great decision. It is quiet and peaceful and a great place to stay. We stayed in a suite on the second floor which was wonderful except for the railing boards on the balcony - they need some TLC - some of them are loose and if you push too hard they could come off. The area around the lodge is beautiful and after dinner - which was very good - we took a long walk and it was quite enjoyable. At dusk the mule deer come by the lodge to eat the grass in the large lawn in front of the lodge and it was fun watching them. We will definitely be back!

This was our first stay inside a national park. It exceeded our expectations. The room had updated furniture, comfortable bed, wonderful views and the front desk staff was attentive to our needs. We had a hiccup with our reservation due to some changes, but they corrected the issue and the manager even sent a personal email apologizing for the situation. I would highly recommend this lodge for your stay at Zion!

The restaurant and café were very good as well.

Room Tip: Request a room with a view near the lobby.

Green Features: Top notch! I have never stayed at a hotel that was this sensitive to environmental concerns.
