“Loved the Cabin”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

The cabin was rustic but comfortable. The layout of the two sinks, the comfortable bed and the gas fireplace were appreicated features. The convenience to the park is really what makes this an excellent choice. The deer at night come right up to the porch, you can walk to either the trails or the shuttle and the scenery is spectacular. Even though this option is more expensive than the local ones, it is worth being in the center of things. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Also, Springdale is so close that your dining options are greater than what is just found in the Park.

Stayed one night at the Lodge. It's clean and has a balcony, but you are paying for the location which is, basically, spectacular. Zion is a beautiful National Park and the hiking is incredible. This is the only place to stay inside the park and I felt the convenience was worth the price. Again, you are overpaying if you are just considering what you get -- 2 beds, a bathroom and a TV -- but it is all about the location.

We also ate at the restaurant (not the snack bar) on-site and it was surprisingly good. It's also a little pricey, but after a full day of hiking I was happy to have the restaurant about 50 yards from the door to my room. My family (2 adults, 3 kids) all enjoyed our meals and the service was good. We had a quick breakfast in the snack bar the next morning and it was fine. Nothing fancy, but it was fine. I would definitely recommend the Lodge if you are going to only be in Zion for a couple of days. You will spend less time driving in and out of the park and more time inside and enjoying it.

The lodge is at the heart of Zion; close to fabulius trails. Our cabin has a spectacular view of the mountain. The queen bed is comfortable . The room is clean and spacious for two. The bathroom has excellent water pressure, also two sinks (a sink inside the bathroom and another outside). There's also a gas fireplace which we've used and has made for a romantic cozy evening. What a blessing to be able to stay at such a beautiful lodge.

We were so fortunate to get a last-minute reservation for one night at the Lodge. It was such a treat to stay here. The room was comfortable with a big-screened TV and extra chairs in the room. The best was the balcony off the room with two rocking chairs. It was so relaxing to sit in the rocking chairs, drinking a glass of wine, while watching the sun bounce off the rocks until sunset. In the morning, the breakfast buffet in the dining room was delicious and plentiful. It was nice to be able to get an early shuttle and start an early hike without any hassle. Even after checking out at 11 am, we were able to keep the car in the parking lot and continue to enjoy the park without driving. The convenience of staying in the park definitely offsets the cost for a splurge of one or two nights. It's relaxing and stress free. Much nicer to drink a glass of wine on your balcony instead of driving in traffic to find your next bland, ordinary motel room!

Room Tip: Make sure your room faces the road. It's a better view. Otherwise the rooms in the back are to...

We spent 1 night at the Lodge and really enjoyed it. It seems to have been renovated fairly recently. Staying inside the park is so much more convenient than having to first enter, find parking and then deciding to walk or take the shuttle (which is free). Restaurant was also good.
I would come back and spend more time here.

Room Tip: Both sides of the lodge had terrific views of the mountains

There's a huge benefit from being able to park your car for the duration; essentially we were left with a short 200' walk from our room to the Zion Lodge dining room (for reasonably priced breakfast, dinner), then another 200' to the free Zion Park shuttle which whisked us on to our desired hiking trail head. From the standpoint of being mentally and physically fresh for the day's hike, and being able to stay in the atmosphere once you come off the trail, staying in the park at Zion Lodge is the way to go. We ate all our breakfasts and dinner at the Zion Lodge; very good meal selection and service... no wait this time of year, though we had dinner reservations which turned out to be unnecessary.
Our room furniture had just been replaced with new Mission Style furniture the day before we arrived. They were quietly doing a room a day in our building while we were there. Bathroom, outdoor balcony in great condition.
We hiked in the first week of May 2013. Deep blue skies, daytime temperatures ranged from the low 60's to the low 70's. While the Zion Lodge was full, the town of Springdale and the campsites were not ... so no crowds on the trails nor the shuttle buses. Perfect hiking conditions.
Definitely a great place for hiking couples who are comfortable with heights and unforgiving drop-offs just off the trail. We're in our mid-50's, and couldn't see hiking in Zion with children. Definitely a place for people in shape, with proper hiking attire. We had a great time.

We spent 4 nights in a 2 double bed cabin at Zion lodge (duplex) and loved it. The cabin was spacious (much bigger than that cabins at Bright Angel Lodge at the Grand Canyon), clean, with vintage inspired furnishings and great views. The air conditioning and fireplace worked great. The bench on the porch was a perfect place for afternoon/evening drinks or an outside dinner with fabulous Zion canyon views. The area was very quite in the evening when everyone who took the shuttle in for the day left -- great chance for quite/romantic evening walks in an incredible setting. While there isn't a large amount of space between the duplexes, we were not bothered at all by noise.

The cabins are easy walking distance to the lodge and a great place to stay as a base for hiking -- you can start up the Angel's landing trail or West Rim trail at day break before the rest of the people who take the shuttle buses in (if you like solitude on your hikes).

There were deer and wild turkeys frequently on the grounds.

The only suggestion for improvement would be to add a small fridge in the cabins.
