Some of the national park lodges run by this company could be a lot better but this one is a cut above. We were here before in 2007 and stayed in the cabins which I would not recommend, especially if it is cold. This time we were able to get into the hotel style rooms and it was great. Very large with a sitting area. I would recommend reserving as far in advance to get one of these. We found the restraunt very good for breakfast and dinner with a very attentive staff. Also get your dinner reservations way in advance there also or you may have to go into neighboring Springdale for dinner. It is also very nice to stay right in the park and it has one other good quality. From Mid April to October you cannot drive into the main scenic drive into the park, you must take a shuttle from the campground or neighboring Springdale. If you are staying at the lodge, you get a "red pass" which allows you to drive the scenic drive into the park as far as the lodge which is app. half way through. This allows you to be able to explore the first 1/2 using your car alone.

The National Park is nothing short of incredible. The lodge is worth the effort to stay in for both the service and the convenience. The dining room is nothing special but more than adequate. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The lodge rooms are divided between "cabins" and tradition "hotel" style rooms. We stayed in the hotel style room. Each building has a lobby with a fireplace and seating for gathering in the evenings. We loved the Park and the Lodge.

We stayed 2 nights. The first night we stayed in room 140, right across from the laundry room. At 6am we woke up to what felt like a earthquake in our room. The pictures on the wall were banging against the wall. so we stuck socks behind them. When we told the front desk lady she just looked at us like we were crazy and was of no help what so ever. We asked to switch rooms, and stayed in a cabin on the second night. It was cute and comfortable. I really like the automatic fireplace that would come on and off with the temperature. It is a beautiful location and a beautiful lodge, too bad the staff suck

Room Tip: Do Not Stay in room 140!!! Its right across from the laundry which they start at 6am. It feels like...

We had a motel room with a balcony at Zion Lodge. You really appreciate the canyon when you step out of your motel/hotel and there it is... amazing!
The room was modest but perfect. Clean and very comfortable and was a very good size with the porch to boot!
You also get to drive to the lodge, something you cannot do without reservations at the lodge.
The staff was courteous and helpful... I would recommend making reservations well in advance.

Room Tip: Better rooms face the canyon, but all rooms are right there so no worries, just be happy to get one...

I intentionally wanted to stay IN the park and this is the ONLY place to do so, without staying down the hill in Springdale, THEN having to take their shuttle to the PARK shuttle at the end of town...Too time consuming for those of us who want to step out our 'backdoor' on vacation and just start walking and hiking! Old but nicely appointed room with most comfortable bed and QUIET (-which I deeply appreciate!) Loved having both a shower and tub as I did have to soak one day from hiking too much! Lovely little balcony which I thoroughly enjoyed as well. Pricey to be sure BUT, a REAL vacation WITHOUT hopping in the car all the time AND being able to utilize their shuttle service nicely AS WELL as their lovely restaurant, and just purely enjoy the ambience of being RIGHT THERE in the canyon. GREAT place!

Room Tip: End of hallway on second floor the quietest!

I was sorry not to be able to book a cabin and called periodically to see if one had opened up. No. However, when we arrived and got to our room we were very pleased, especially with the porch and the view. We stayed in the building nearest to the lodge. The room overlooked the lawn and the cliffs beyond. The lawn is a grassy expanse with a huge cottonwood tree in the center. In the late afternoon, children play made-up games there. Then at dusk the wildlife takes it turn -- especially deer and turkeys. The light on the cliffs is amazing morning and afternoon. Both sides of the lodge have a view of cliffs, since the lodge is in a narrow valley. It looks like some of the downstairs room farther from the lodge may not have such a great view from the porch since there are cabins immediately in front of them.

We were downstairs, which did mean that there were passersby. Upstairs would be more private, but there is no elevator.

Room Tip: Actually, this whole review is a room tip.

We stayed in a cabin with a magnificent view of the cliffs. You can hear the neighbors a little bit but the view is worth it. NIce historic room with modern conveniences.
A stay we will never forget. Better than being in Springdale although we did go there for dinner since the lodge menu is OK but a bit limited at dinner time. Breakfast and lunch were good. You can also get a "box" lunch for a picnic.
Very convenient since you an drive up to the lodge.
