Such a great experience. Beautiful mountain views, shaded, wooded areas and many roads to get off and investigate small towns around the drive. We had perfect, beautiful late spring weather for our trip but I imagine an autumn trip would be amazing!

“Always worth it!”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

We recently got senior passes to ALL National Parks, best present ever! Recently we happened to be close to Skyline and decided to check it out. What is amazing about it is you can stay inside the park (we didn't) or you can just drive thru it, or you can drive just one exit (we did). I can't stress enough that each and every scenic view turnout is a must-see. Now we're energized to see how soon we can rent a cabin and stay within for a weekend.

“Breaktaking”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

Our first trip out west and an amazing one. We entered in on the northern Front Royal entrance of the Drive. There was quite alot of fog this day and make driving somewhat a challenge. Most of the lookout points were fogged in and we couldn't really take in the views. We exited the first access road about 30miles in and detour to Luray Caverns after which it cleared and we reentered. The 15.00 fee is good for 7days with your receipt. We continued onto the next drive stopping and taking in different views and snapping photos. We got off at the next entrance point as it was getting late so we can get down to our Hotel. The next morning we returned from the southern entrance near Waynesboro Va. We took the Skyline the entire way up this time and also stopped off to hike one of the Waterfalls. We saw deer, falcon, and 2 bear and different times. This is a must see for anyone especially those who enjoy nature and scenery. We will be back for sure real soon!!

“Long, but beautiful drive!”

Camp in the park, take a few days and split up the drive. Plenty of overlooks, although many were closed for repair when we were there. Saw great views, plenty of bears and wild turkeys along the way.

“Scenic drive”
Reviewed May 31, 2014

This is a very long drive about 100 miles from start to finish, but you can enter or exit at certain points along the route. There are plenty of places to stop and take pictures or just enjoy the sights. A map is given to you when you enter Skyline drive that is very helpful. We didn't do the whole drive, just about half of it as we ran out of time.
