“YET ANOTHER MAGNIFICENT GROVE OF THE GIANT TREES!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2014

This grove of the giant Sequoias is just off the Highway 180 on the way to the entrance of Kings Canyon National Park and is part of that park. The grove has a large parking lot and the trail through the grove is short and easily walked. The jewel of this grove is the General Grant Tree, which is the third largest Sequoia in the world, as measured by the diameter of the base (33'). This grove is right up there with the Giant Forest of nearby Sequoia National Park, and in some ways more impressive due to the concentration of these giant trees in one relatively small location. If you're at the latter park, this is an easy 45 minute side trip from the Wuksachi Lodge (reviewed by me elsewhere on Trip Advisor). If your main focus is Kings Canyon, there's no excuse for not stopping here.

“Easy to visit these Giants”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2014

Grant Grove, located pretty close to the access gate into Kings Canyon, is a wonderland of giant trees. When you pull into the parking lot, you are immediately in the forest. There is a terrific and easy to walk trail that takes you through the tree forest. Note: parking is sometimes a pain, so try to arrive early to avoid having to wait. Tip: have a picnic in the Columbine Picnic area that is on the road down (or back) from the Grant Grove (and enjoy the best bathrooms in the whole park!!).

“Beautiful Trees”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2014

A beautiful grove of sequoia trees. For folks who don't walk well, it is important to know that the path is paved, however there are gradual inclines throughout the grove. There is a large parking lot with facilities as well.

“Nice walk to the Big Tree”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013

Nice area. Lots of old, big trees. Something you can't really see anywhere else in the world. Lots of trails in the area to wander around.

“How can you not love this?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

Absolutely incredible experience seeing all of these trees. Though I Iove the deciduous forests of the eastern states where I live, our larger trees would rate as a branch when compared to the behemoths of the Sierra Nevada range.
