Pretty cool. Go in the winter if you can. The summer time is quite nice as well, but there are more tourists.

“Unbelievable”
Reviewed December 17, 2013

It seems like you are at a Tolkien movie, and all the giant trees are about to start walking. It's amazing that even with all technology and lots of modern stuff, a millennial nature work still wonder us all.

“Absolutly stunning”
Reviewed December 6, 2013 via mobile

The sheer size of this tree is amazing! The area is well kept with nice trails to hike around the tree. The park has made accommodations for those less active individuals with a shuttle service. You will find people that are unable to read everywhere with food, this might make fora nice afternoon surprise for those lucky enough to witness a bear attack! Subway sandwiches seems to be a favorite. My helpful hint is to take the hiking trails away from the general Sherman, there are very large trees out and about you can take pics with. Second helpful hint, make sure your vehicle is maintained before going, it's a grueling trip on a vehicle.

“Must see”

Not commercialized and a nice hike. Saw bears as well at dusk. Drive thru the mountains was spectacular. Out of the way but that is part of the charm.

“Awesome and just breathtaking”
Reviewed November 22, 2013

There are no words to describe the magnificent, astounding beauty of this tree and its surroundings. Yes, you do need to walk a bit to reach it...but make the effort as General Sherman is an incredible vision of nature. You are under the spell of a giant, a giant of nature that is truly incredible to see. Respect and awe. Key thought is to preserve the beauty of the earth today and for our future.
