“no words to describe this amazing wonder”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013 via mobile

there are no words to aptly describe this wonder. it's a long curvy ride to the top to see this giant but when you get there, you won't be disappointed. Gen Sherman is the "biggest" by mass, but the giant grove overall is just amazing. I was in Bakersfield for business and had a half day free...it was an intense trip to the tree but soooooo worth it. I'll be back with the family!

“big tree, though not as impressive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

sounded amazing, most massive tree in the world! but, it's not what i thought. it was rather short actually. turns out that even though it's got the most wood in volume, tha'ts because it's so dang old. got some nice pictures with it though. not a bad thing to visit if you're in the area, though there are lovelier trails with more astonishingly huge trees

“The grand old tree among old trees”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

This is indeed the great grandfather of all the giant trees in Sequoia National Forest. There's a neat outline on the ground that gives you an idea of the diameter and circumference of this giant. Its really hard to fathom its size, but the surrounding exhibit helps a bit. Come see it!

“Worth the Hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

The anticipation builds as you walk down from the parking lot high above the tree itself. Glimpses come from up above and several sign posts build the suspense (as well as warn you about the long uphill hike back). For those with companions who aren't able to make the steep climb back...there is a handicap accessible parking lot near the tree where you can arrange to meet if you need to...we did.
