“Worth the Hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

The anticipation builds as you walk down from the parking lot high above the tree itself. Glimpses come from up above and several sign posts build the suspense (as well as warn you about the long uphill hike back). For those with companions who aren't able to make the steep climb back...there is a handicap accessible parking lot near the tree where you can arrange to meet if you need to...we did.

“General Sherman”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

If you love nature, you can not miss seeing these majestic trees and the flora and fauna surrounding them. The smell of the trees just made the experience more heavenly. So peaceful and life-giving, you can not help but feel peaceful and happy if you take the time to enjoy the beauty.

“incredible nature”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

If you go from San Francisco to LA, you can enter into the park on one entrance, passing through Visalia, visit the park and go further to LA through Bakersfield. Sequoias are amazing, incredible and make you to feel so small and insignificant. For entrance into the park it is required to pay 20$ for each private car for 7 days, withouts limits for passings. General Sherman is the bigest tree in the world taking into consideration its volume. It is not allowed to touch it but is fabulous to see.

“General Sherman Tree, Sequoia National Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The largest tree in the world, by volume. It's 39 ft. in diameter and over 200+ feet tall. You can't touch it anymore, but a nice trail leads to the tree and you can walk around the giant to get an idea of its size.

“Great little walk to see a fabulous giant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

But if you are going in winter, as we just did, bring a set of traction devices like STABILicers, Yaktrax and the like - a good investment! Snowshoes are overkill for the short walk to the tree - though a FABULOUS choice for continuing further to the Congress Grove and beyond!
