“the main drive through the park”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

You cant really avoid it. It's the main road through the park. Very twisty with beautiful scenery.

Remember to move over if you drive slow, rangers will pull you over if you don't. I saw it happen several times when people were driving too slow and causing congestion. It's ok if you like to drive slower but just be considerate of people who don't.

“Scenic drive along the river”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

We followed this road until it ends at the wilderness area. It is quite winding but very well maintained, wide and has several pull outs for slow cars and many more scenic view out looks. Besides the scenic view pullouts, there were many places along the river where you could just pull over in the shade and enjoy the sounds and sights.

“Beautiful - even through the construction”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

Make sure you have a full tank of gas before heading into the park, as gasoline is not available. Stop at the first visitors center you see and the rangers will inform you of the construction schedule. This will allow you plan your activities and limit your time waiting in line. Also, when waiting in the construction line, why not open your windows and turn off your engines. Enjoy the nature around you instead the sound of engines and smell of exhaust.

“Spectacular Drive, Unbelievable Trees!!”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

The drive is spectacular - it often winds back on itself as you are climbing the mountains which was fun for us to see. The hairpin curves were an adventure to drive! The trees take your breath away with their majesty. I would add Yosemite National Park to our next trek to Central California, coming up through Sequoia. From Sequoia, we went West The Santa Cruz, which we enjoyed tremendously, then drove south down the Pacific Coast Highway - spectacular tour!!

Of note, we stayed at Wuksachi Lodge - a very scenic and comfortable stopping point. Not a spectacular stay, but pleasant and comfortable, extremely convenient to out tour.
