“THE place in Rocky Mt National Park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2012

When the dam of Lawn Lake failed (in the 80s), the water crashed down the mountainside, carrying boulders, trees and tons of water with it and creating the fan in the process. There is an easy path that leads to the waterfalls and boulders. Everyone will love climbing on the rocks and wading in the river. Or, turn around and head for the meadow. The meadow is fenced in but there is a gate and it's a great place to see native plants. There is never anyone in the meadow and it is a perfect picnic spot; just remember, please, take ALL of your trash with you! Restroom at the parking lot. One of the best places in the park and often not crowded.

“Great photo op!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2012

Easy walk from the parking lot to this very interesting site and the reward is some great scenery, views and photo opportunities! Many people can't resist the urge to climb up the rocks even though there are signs warning that the wet rocks are slippery, so beware if you get the urge.

“Nature's beauty”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2012

It is amazing to see what nature can do during a flood! Interesting to read the information plaques about how the fan occurred. Also, the hike along the river is worth it. Lots of elevation gain, so only for the expert hiker.
