Went on this road during the week in the morning from Estes Park to grand Lake- saw Moose, Elk and deer. Lots of places to pull over & take some short walks. Morning light was beautiful for pictures & the road was much less crowded in the early morning- anything before 10 am is less crowded in the park.

Best day in Estes Park was spent driving Trail Ridge Road. Stunning scenery, helpful guides, gorgeous photo-ops at stop-offs. A must do!

Gorgeous. We have traveled this road many times, and every time I think it is one of the most spectacular I have ever seen, but it is not for the faint of heart in places. The drop-offs are unnerving in places.

This scenic drive is well worth the trip. Take your time and enjoy the beauty!! We were lucky to see 2 large herds for elk and then for the finally, we seen a large bull elk with velvet on his rack at about 20 feet away. Take a jacket for the very top portions it can get rather cool. We traveled all the way over and back again. Just keep an eye out for the bicyclists as you must share the road with them. The road is wide enough for all. Enjoy!!

We picked up a Trail Ridge Road Guide at the visitor's center and spent most of the day following the guide. I was concerned that driving such a long, winding road would bore my kids (or make my middle one carsick), but neither happened. We stopped at almost every overlook/point of interest possible and enjoyed the views, starting at a very early 7:00 am. We stopped at the Alluvial Fan first, walked up trails and parts of trails (including the Ute trail), had an early lunch and hot chocolate (it was a cold 45 degrees!!) at the Alpine Visitor Center, saw lots of elk, and a few moose on the west side of the park, and took a tour of the Holzworth Historic Site as well. We ended the trip mid-afternoon with ice cream at Grand Lake.
