Lake Crescent Lodge

Loved Lake Crescent Lodge! We stayed here for two nights at the beginning of June, 2011. We had just come from Lake Quinault Lodge, and I must say that I much preferred Lake Crescent Lodge. Next time, I will stay here the entire trip. They have good food in the restaurant, although they were definitely short on help at the time of our visit. The place is peaceful and relaxing. I loved sitting in the chairs out by the lake, by the dock and having a glass of wine or beer in the late evenings...very relaxing. There were some cool hikes right around the lodge and even saw some deer in the evenings out on the lawn. We stayed in a Pyramid Mountain room, and while the furnishings were just average, the room was big and I loved the view. Also, the people at the front desk were very friendly and very helpful! All in all, a great stay!

I truly enjoyed our stay at Lake Crescent Lodge. The rooms were clean, comfortable and I really liked that there were no phones or TV in our room! The food is fabulous and I found out that most of the food is organic, grown in the area, and responsibly farmed/fished. In addition there is an extensive recycling program, which I very much appreciate. Everyone there was friendly, helpful and generous with their time. And of course, the location with the lake right out your door, could not be beat.

We flew into Seattle and drove to Olympic Nat'l Park's Hurricane Ridge (quite worth the drive up!), then to Lake Crescent Lodge. We appreciated the serenity and quietness of the location. The lodge is picturesque and both elegant and comfortable. We had a beautiful view from our lodge room of the lake and mountains. We only spent one night, but enjoyed the on-site restaurant, hiking trails, and views. The double bed was creaky and noisy during the night, which is our only complaint! We continued on to Victoria, BC (via Port Angeles) and then to Whistler, BC and this was our favorite location and lodging- we wish we had spent more than one night. We highly recommend this lodge and would love to visit again!

We stayed here while on our honeymoon and had a great time. We stayed in one of the Singer Tavern Cabins and really dug the rustic decor of the room and the main lodge. The food was great and the staff were extremely helpful with our various dietary requirements and with fixing up take-out orders when we felt like dining in our room. With the park being so large a bit of driving is going to be required no matter where you stay, but we thought the Crescent Lake make a good base for our many excursions. I think that you get a lot for the price you pay when you to into account the location (especially when you consider what some of the other places on the peninsula are charging that are outside the park and lack the scenery): the view over the lake is spectacular and it was so relaxing to sit on our porch and chat as the fog rolled over the mountains. If you are planning a trip to Olympic I would definitely stay here and we will the next time we are through.

We enjoyed our stay at the Cresant lodge. The staff was very helpful with trails and things to do.
All our evenings were spent on the enclosed porch or by the fire.
Would do it again in a heat beat!!!

We stayed in a 2nd floor Storm King room for two nights in May.

Pros:
Incredibly beautiful lakeside setting
Wonderful hiking opportunities, including a short trek to Marymere Falls (a must)
Abundant wildlife
Decent restaurant with a varied menu and well-prepared food
Extremely friendly and helpful staff
Our 2nd floor room had a nice balcony from which we enjoyed wildlife and lake viewing.
Beautiful historic lodge with a large fireplace, a nice bar, and an inviting lakeview sun room to enjoy cocktails and items from the bar menu.

Cons:
The over-priced Storm King rooms are comparable to what you find at Motel 6 for a third of the price. In fact, Motel 6 has more amenities.
There is nothing "contemporary" about these rooms unless you consider 1960-decor to be contemporary.
The walls are paper thin. We were able to hear every sound made by the honeymooners next door, which kept us awake most of the night. Earplugs are a must.
The bed and pillows were uncomfortable.
No wi-fi, fridge, or microwave in the rooms. Unless you're willing to drive to Port Angeles, your only option is to eat in the Lodge restaurant.

I can't speak to the amenities or comfort of the other accommodations as they were all booked during our stay. Based on what we were able to view, the Roosevelt Cottages would be the only accommodation I would reserve in the future.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money on a Roosevelt Cottage

Spent one evening only at the Lodge, and it wasn't enough. We chose the least expensive room, and while it was "old school" (think "Motel 6 simple") it was refurbished, exceptionaly clean, and comfortable. The reason you want to be there however is the setting, along a large pristine lake with opportunities for hiking and boating. Thje main Lodge is small by National Park standards but again clean and somewhat rustic. Breakfast (not included in our package) was good. We made the mistake of trying to see too much on our journey in from Forks, and stopped by Port Angeus before proceding to the Lake, planning on using it only for sleeping. We should have spent a full day or two there just taking it all in!

Room Tip: Book early
