We visited for only two days, but found this place extraordinary. The Paradise Inn is near the Visitors Center and various trails on Mt. Ranier. The wild flowers are extraordinary. The hotel (and restaurant) are efficiently run by GSI. The rooms are not extravagant but quiet, well furnished, and well-organized, plenty of outlets and mirrors. The hotel lobby is very large, with massive but ornate furniture made from Alaskan cedar by a German carpenter about 100 years ago. A Park Ranger is on duty in the lobby every day except Tuesday to give advice, and Park Rangers give very interesting lectures in the evening and, during the day, lead several very informative walks through the trails. Between 5 and 8 pm, a very talented pianist, Bill, plays pieces ranging from Debussy, to Gershwin, to Bernstein, with many other popular pieces. There is an avid amateur astronomer who from Monday to Thursday shows groups the spectacular views of stars after 10 pm, with several very high powered telescopes. The dining room, seats 200 and is open specific hours for each meal (no reservations). The foot is varied and excellent and is priced accordingly (no reservations). Good food is also available at a lower price at a small café (open 6am to 10pm), and you can also eat in the cafeteria at the Visitors Center, open 10am to 6pm. The only major downside is that there is no Internet access anywhere, which is even more of a problem because there is virtually no cell phone access.in the area. There are four payphones near the lobby. The Inn definitely should provide wifi access to the Internet, at least in the lobby. However, all in all, a wonderful place to enjoy Mt. Ranier.
