We spent 2 nights at the hillside cabin. It was our favorite lodge in Alaska. The staff was wonderful.they were very accommodating and catered the day activities to our interests. The food was amazing. Everything was homemade and gourmet. We saw many black and brown bears, especially at night after the fishermen left. We were very glad we spent the night over a day trip.

we didnt' stay overnight, but did their day trip (via Rust's Flying Service)
Fly in from anchorage on a prop-sea plane (pretty ride)
Land on their lake
Pastries and coffee out
Onto a pontoon boat for bear viewing (and we got very lucky, 4 different bears (2 brown, 2 black) romping at the mouth of river feeding the lake) and the magic is that because you're on a boat, you can get relatively close, quite safely.
Then nice lunch at pretty lodge, then float plane home
Pretty day, pretty place, and great bear time
Would have been disappointed if no bears (at >$500 pp), although it's always a gamble in nature, but for us, was a wonderful memory and a special part of our alaskan adventure.

What a peaceful calm lodge. Food was amazing, people very friendly and helpful when asked questions. Honest about bear sightings. We were very lucky to see a brown bear within 10 minutes getting into our boat to go look. We knew because the salmon were not running yet that we might not see any. The brown bear was about 3 years old and was fishing for about 35 minutes and we were about 15 feet away. What a true gift to see. I would recommend this lodge to anyone. I am planning to go back when salmon are running to see more. The location and relaxing scenery plus float plane in which we saw 4 moose was over the top. Our tour guide was very down to earth and explaining Redoubt Bay and history of Alaska with no hesitations! Please reach out to me with any questions. A must do trip and would recommend staying for 2 nights. We were only there for 6 hours.

This past summer my husband and I spent 3 wonderful nights at one of the coolest destinations I've ever visited. Nestled in the back country of Alaska, Redoubt Bay Lodge is a vacation like no other. First off, the bush plane ride in (which is the only way to get there) was spectacular and we were greeted off the plane by almost the entire staff. Every single staff member was helpful, kind and excited to have us. They were also very knowledgeable about the area and we had a personal guide for the entirety of our stay.

There are only 3 guest cabins, so service at Redoubt is truly tailored to the guests. The thing that was most amazing to my husband and I was the quality of the food in such a remote and rustic destination! The chefs were fabulous and every meal was an adventure from shaved foie gras salad with garden greens to perfectly cooked rack of lamb... not to mention the delicious sockeye salmon my husband caught out of the lake and they cooked up for us... which was perfect after a day of kayaking and bear viewing.

Next year we would like to visit the sister lodges of Redoubt Bay - Winterlake Lodge and Tutka Bay Lodge!
