If you love the outdoors with the comfort of a beautifully built lodge and cabins this is the place to go. All cabins have 2 queen beds, private baths and stunning views of Pedersen lagoon and glacier just outside the window. The meals are good but not outstanding, this is the wilderness and you don't come here for your 'haute cuisine' experience!
Activities are mostly on the water - kayaking and canoeing. Staff is very friendly, helpful and knowledgable. One thing you can't do here is hiking, even though it's advertised in the brochure. A 1 hour stroll along the beach, on the nature trail or to Pedersen Glacier - that's simply not hiking for me. There are virtually no trails and you can't hike anywhere on your own.
Anyway, the setting is simply breathtaking, wildlife and flowers are plentiful - and this is ecotourism at its best.

Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge is an experience we will never forget. Accessible only by boat from Seward, Alaska, the lodge and 16 individual cabins are located on a serene lagoon across from Pederson Glacier. No phones, TV, Internet or other distractions - just nature at its finest. The facilities were pristine and the activities were perfect. We hiked, canoed and kayaked to a glacier that calved almost on cue. We met so many interesting people at the family-style meals in the main lodge. The staff were friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. They clearly love their jobs. We would go back in a flash!

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge as part of a Road Scholar tour. We could not have been more happy with our decision to book this trip. Lodge has incredible views across Pedersen Lagoon to Pedersen Glacier, with the occasional sighting of a black bear nibbling away at the edge of the lagoon, and a mountain goat swimming out to the island. Delicious nightly appetizers before dinner, inviting gathering and drinks in the Great Room/bar area. Excellent food served family style, conducive to getting to know your fellow-travelers. Comfortable cabin with screened view through the trees across the lagoon to the glacier, with on-demand hot water and indoor plumbing (a bonus after the previous lodge). But what made this a truly extraordinary experience was the quality of the day trips and the excellence of the guides. I can't say enough about their knowledge of the terrain, flora, fauna and their ability to support of their guests to do more than they think they can. We did the all-day kayak trip and experienced some huge calving at Aialik Glacier, even though I didn't think I would be able to manage an all-day kayak. Our guide, Leigh, made it possible. Also did the half day canoe & hike to Pedersen Glacier, followed in the afternoon by a canoe trip floating up with the tide to Upper Pedersen Lagoon to see the glacier up close and float among the icebergs. We were on the new boat on the trip to the Lodge, and saw humpbacks, minkes, orcas, Stellar sea lions, harbor seals, bald eagles, otters, puffins, and lots of sea birds. If you love active vacations and want to see unspoiled Alaska, this is the place for you. My only regret is that we didn't stay an extra day which would have allowed a little more relaxation and exploration outside the guided trips. If you're tied to your cell phone and the internet, go elsewhere -- they don't exist here!

We stayed at the lodge for 2 nights in June 2011. This was the finale of a 3 week trip to Canada and Alaska. We had planned this as a trip of a lifetime for over a year.

We collected our boat at Seward one comment I'd make is check where the agent is as they are difficult to find. Once we located our boat we had a 4 hour trip to kennai fjords glacier lodge - this was like a safari in its own right. Humpbacks sea otters an puffins all were seen.

On arrival we stopped by the immense Pedetsen glacier in the lagoon for an hour just fantastic.

Next we disembarked and took a 10 min walk to the lodge - luggage is delivered for you. The main lodge itself is specatularly located in black bear territory looking out onto the lagoon, glacier and sea. Spectacular vistas everywhere. Our lodge was located overlooking the lagoon and glacier as all were. Vert comfortable and eco friendly this place is all about nature.
The staff were very friendly all dining is communal - get to knowpeople and it's a buffet style. Food was excellent if a little biased to our us colleagues. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend all the daily trips went kayaking, walking and hiking. We were blessed with the weather as well.
As an amateur photographer it was fantastic (tripod / momopod recommended). If you're into the outdoors with comfort this it.
Highly recommend and will be back.
