We stayed there two nights so we could visit the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Too bad there's no driving-in camping inside the park.
There is a nice and big grassy area where you can pitch your tent. The bathrooms are nice and there's a big sink to clean the dishes. However there's no showers.
I wasn't cold at all during my stay there. I slept well and like it a lot.
Just across the road, there is a trail that leads to the Jagar Museum, from where you can see the crater. We did it late in the evening so we could see the glow of the lava in the crater and it was really nice!
