The wonders of nature never cease to amaze me. The steam vents were steamy and the view of the volcano was great although a lot wasn’t accessible due to the eruption last year and the huge cracks in the road. Great experience

Parts of the park are still closed following the 2018 eruption but we still spent a full day hiking and driving the Chain of Craters Road to the beautiful Sea Arch. Just up the hill from the arch there's a section of road that was partially covered by an eruption in the 70s. We walked down to see it. Check the pictures at the bottom of the hill for better instructions on where to stop.

Steam is constantly being released all around the caldera. It's fascinating to watch and the whole area really shows the power of nature. For an easy hike with kids, try Devastation Trail.

Volcanoes was a great stop on our trip to Hawaii. Lots of great history and the staff was super fun. Due to the 2018 several areas were closed during our 2019 visit. That being said, don’t worry! There’s still so much to do, see and learn. If you get a chance to stop in, you should! You’ll see terrain there that you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

I love national parks so I’m biased, but Hawai‘i Volcanoes is still an incredible place to spend a day or more. Best hiking on the island. Great camping. On this trip we stayed 2 nights in a cabin at Nāmakanipaio. Kīlauea Iki is a great hike (the loop is currently closed so it’s an out-and-back hike). Walking along the Crater Rim Trail away from the busy viewpoints is also a nice experience. And, the night sky on a moonless night was shockingly dark. The whole place is a must-see on any Hawai‘i trip.

Even though a lot of the crater rim is closed off, we had a great time learning all about the Volcano. It was awesom seeing the steam vents. The park rangers were very friendly and informative.
