Visited the park. It is basically closed since the volcanoes erupted, but you can see the crater and many steam vents around. The visitor center is closed and being taken down as there is a lot of land missing under it now due to the eruption. The vista is fantastic and memorable. The wild flowers are everywhere and the art coop at the parks entrance is first class- don’t miss it.
This a place not to miss, even though Mother Nature took a bite out of it. It has recently made a huge new land mass from ut’s Eruption in the sea nearby. Enjoy it and take a helicopter ride over it to see it’s expanse. Enjoy!

We've visited here many times and it's an awesome place. This trip was a first for our son in law so we were sadly disappointed when we found that due to an eruption we could no longer walk out on the crater or lava tubes. Due to fairly heavy rain we decided not to walk along the path near the Volcano House nearby. Fortunately because I had a pass to all National Parks so we didn't have to pay admission. It was a long ride from Kona to not be able to see much.

The park is fabulous. It works well to stay in Volcano village for a night or two. There is a lot to learn and see. Ranger talk was wonderfully funny and informative.

Even though there are currently no active lava emissions anywhere on the big island, the National park is still worth a visit. There are active steam as well as sulfur vents, and the rain forest is beautiful. I was a little saddened that most of the Crater Rim drive is closed so you can't even really get much of a glimpse of the collapsed caldera.

Really loved this place. Stayed a few nights in Hilo to be able to visit, and really glad we did.

Start the day at the Visitor Cbetre - staff are amazing and knowledgeable, and will tell.you what to see and where to avoid.

Chain of Craters Road was beautiful- so different from anything I've seen before. Crater Rim Drive was mainly closed when we visited but you can still visit the steam vents.

Well worth a day of your Hawaii holiday. Didn't do the hikes but they looked great too.
