Owner description: Bike down Haleakala, Maui's largest Volcano. Enjoy a tour of Haleakala National Park and a trip up to the summit at 10,000feet above sea level. Admire views of the Crater, and bicoastal views of Maui. Experience a 23 mile bike ride downhill at your own pace. No guided convoy to rush you down, no big group to hold you back. You are free to come down at your own comfortable rate.

This was a great company with exceptional service at check in and a great tour guide up the volcano. The equipment was first rate but the ride is not for the faint of heart. I would also suggest for serious riders also as the traffic is very close to you and there is a very small shoulder to ride on. Going down hill is thrilling but also terrifying when you are watching your teenagers constantly being too close to traffic. The map provided is not sufficient enough to navigate all of the turns down and one particular turn is not properly marked and we went a mile out of the way down hill and then had to bike back up to get on the right path.
Overall, we all did survive and did see some amazing sights along the way. The people who run the bike company were all very professional and helpful. And like I said before, all of the equipment is first rate.

This was a great trip for the family - including the teenager.

I highly recommend the deluxe tour. In addition to the biking, this will include a ride up to the crater along with some interesting history of the island from the driver/guide.

Hint.... Bring pants/sweats for the first half of the trip and shorts for the second - huge temp change. Also, bring the "good" camera, you'll be glad you did.

What a great time we had biking down the volcano! This was our second trip but first with the kids! Kimo was a great tour guide! He's funny and informative and takes some great pictures for you! I like that your not rushed and can descend at your own pace to enjoy the day as you wish! The bikes are new and they will fit them for based on your height! Wonderful views and great family fun! I would recommend this bike company to anyone!

Great experience! When we woke up, it was cloudy and windy but we went ahead to the Sunrise Tour. By the time we reached the peak, it was fabulous sunrise and the bike trip down was wonderful! I am so glad that we choose Haleakala Bike Company so we could go at our own pace and stop when and where we wanted.

This is mostly from observation because I only used the Haleakala Bike Co and no other but I would recommend this company over the others because:
(1) The bikes were new
(2) The instructions were helpful and entertaining
(3) If you get lost, there were HBC vans driving around a lot
(4) You can guide yourself and stop whenever you want and can go at your own pace
*(5)* You get the best starting position at the top of the mountain
(6) You can bring a blanket (or many) while you wait outside for the sunrise and they'll bring the blanket back for you on the bus
(7) They loan you a backpack as part of the tour package
