This was our first of two zipline experiences and we much preferred our 2nd experience with Flyin' Hawaiian. Skyline isn't totally terrible, its just not great. The scenery, well there really wasn't any which was disappointing. The ziplines were kind of short/low and lame. Disappointing IMO but might be good for younger kids or those really fearful of zipping.

From the start of our experience, we noticed that the staff were less than excited about their jobs. Our impression? They do this several times a day, several days a week, several weeks a year....you get the picture. One staff member even showed some contempt toward the group. And on the last zipline, when some people in the group were asking him where a good place to have lunch would be. He told them, there is nothing good up here on Haelakala. We'd read great things about Kula Lodge which is right on Haelakala so I asked him about that place. His said it was really horrible and would not recommend it! His attitude was so offputting throughout our experience, we decided to ignore his advice. And as we were walking into the restaurant, guess who showed up? That's right, that guy that told us we should go elsewhere! By the way, the food & views there were fantastic and I made a point to say "wouldn't come here huh?" Very unprofessional attitude and a bit of a jerk for trying to steer people away from that place.

Would I try Skiline again? No.

I haven't been on any other ziplines, so I can't compare this to the others in Maui. However, after looking at the costs and other ziplines in Maui, I have to say this is a great choice. It's in the trees and the property is really nice. What makes the tours so fun is the staff. They are so funny, but also make sure everyone is safe. We took our kids ages 10 and 13 and they LOVED it. It's also nice to have the option of purchasing a CD with pictures at the end, but there's no pressure if you don't want to. We booked a tour at 10am and it was perfect because we were able to get lunch after at Kula Lodge and restaurant and then drive up to the crater after. What a great day!

Family of 4 had great time with Joe and Johnny, despite mild anxiety. Both guide very reassuring, as well as knowledgeable about environment.

We zipped on January 2, 2013. It really was a first class operation, very professional. The equipment was all in good condition, and didn't appear unsafe in any way. The guides were informative and humerous, which helped relieve the tension. A short, easy hike to the first zipline and they get progressively longer and faster. The whole family enjoyed it immensely. A good time for sure.

First off, the drive. Getting to this location takes a bit of planning and time, so you need to plan for the trip. It took us almost 50 minutes to get there from Maui Coast Hotel in Kihei. The office has no GPS address for those of you addicted to GPS like I am. The instructions I got were to drive to Kulu Lodge Restaurant (15200 Haleakala Highway) go a little further and then turn left on Crater Road, or 378, go another 2.5 miles.

Once getting there, after you check in, it is a five minute hike through some rough terrain.

Unlike the first zipline we took last year at the Maui Zipline Co., this zipline adventure would not be good for for small children or older people or unfit people. There is a bit of hiking and physical exertion and a minimal level of physical fitness is needed to get through the course.

And what a blast it turned out to be! There is a zipline where you walk across a shaky narrow wooden bridge less than a foot across, with a plunging ravine below you. The last zipline swings you back and forth at high speed and is the best thrill of the day.

The scenery is awesome, and the guides were fantastic!
