“Fun times seven! (actually more)”
Reviewed September 5, 2010

After a long ride it's a great swimming hole. Wear "water" shoes and I was glad we brought wind breakers when a brief shower blew through. Our kids wore wetsuits and happily played in the water for hours. Very picturesque, amazing beauty.

“Ohe'o Gulch and Waimoku Falls - Incredible”
Reviewed June 7, 2010

Visited in early June and was blown away. We went with the only intention being to see the main pools and waterfalls. While they were beautiful and interesting in their own way, the true highlight of this national park is by far the Pipiwai trail and Waimoku Falls. At first we weren't sure that we were up for a 4 mile roundtrip hike, but let me tell you it was FAR worth it! The trail starts out from the visitor center and wanders through the forest for a ways before it arrives at a huge banyan tree. From there it goes over a few bridges with views of a large stream and some small waterfalls. Then comes an amazing and quite mysterious and beautiful bamboo forest. The trail ends crossing the stream at a few points and ending at the spectacular Waimoku falls. I can't describe how beautiful it was. My husband and I waded into the water and stood under the falls for a few minutes. It was cold, but really amazing. Definitely bring a lunch, and eat it while looking at the falls - it was great.

“The Seven Sacred Pools and bamboo forest are amazing!”
Reviewed May 3, 2010

Sure - it may be a long and winding road to get to Hana, but just past this sleepy little town is a beautiful little spot coined the Seven Sacred Pools. These refreshing fresh-water pools are teeming with waterfalls, bordered by jungle and set amidst an ocean backdrop. It is pretty amazing.

And the bamboo forest is pretty darn cool too. And if you aren't too tired by the time you get there -- don't skip the hike to the 400 foot waterfall. The effort to get there is worth it.

And just to note -- the drive to Hana ain't so bad either. There are breath taking views around every bend.

“Check before going to Oheo Gulch”
Reviewed May 14, 2009

My husband and I drove for hours to get to Oheo Gulch yesterday only to find there was a bridge replacement project going on. This project started May 12th, 2009 and I am unsure when it will finish.
I would highly recommend going to Oheo Gulch to swim in the pools once reopened. We went a few years ago and it is spectacular. Don't forget bug spray if you are taking any hikes nearby.
