Fall is a great time to visit Cade's Cove with all the leaves turning and the amazing weather. It is breathtakingly beautiful and worth the trip before sure. Expect heavy traffic and crowds but so worth it. Words can't describe this place and pictures don't do it justice. It is a must! I'm already planning a trip back here next year!

Yes, you are driving in a long line of cars. Yes, you are driving a big loop. Yes, there is a chance you won't see anything bigger than a squirrel. Yes, chances are the teens will fall asleep part way through.

Still go.

It's a beautiful drive with views across wide expanses of valley. There are several historic buildings and sites to stop and explore. We saw horses and deer but nothing else. It was still scenic.

This beautiful 11-mile drive on a single lane is worth walking or even better biking. The one-way is a painful drive--apparently the people driving this don't realize 50 cars are behind them when they stop their vehicle to take pictures. The drive from the main park road to the start of the 11-mile circle is beautiful --we did it twice--early morning and late afternoon. Pick up the guide at the start of the drive to read the historical points and markings along the way. Next time we will rent bikes in Gatlinburg and do the 11-mile Cades Cove circle on bikes. The gate closes at dusk, but you can still walk or bike after that and enjoy the solitude of the horses and deer without the crowds. **Also, if you want to bail on the 11 mile circle, there are 2 points you can cut off and cut short part of this. These 2 cutoff points could shorten the walk or the bike ride.

We brought our granddaughter with us on our annual trip to Pigeon Forge with friends. We stopped at the store halfway through and discovered a book signing event. We met two wonderful authors and bought two beautiful books. It was an unexpected treasure to add to our trip.

Be sure and visit Cades Cove if you are in the area! I suggest going early to get ahead of the crowds but more importantly to see the wildlife starting their day! The fall foliage was amazing. We saw deer, turkeys and even a bear. Stop at the entry to buy a Guide/Map for $1. It provides information about the loop and the history of the early settlement.

When I visit the Smoky Mountains I always make time for Cades Cove. I love exploring and visiting all the stops along the way. This year I had my brother and sister-in-law with me, it was their first time to Cade Cove. We are already planning another trip with the kids. Cades Cove is a must see.

Cades Cove is an 11 mile, one way drive from start to finish. The speed limit is 15 miles per hour so you don't have to worry about rushing through and missing some of the scenery. Lots of wildlife (we saw a black bear which was amazing) and numerous locations to stop along the way and learn the history of the area. Well worth the drive!

Beautiful leisurely trip around about 10 mile one way Road through fields and woodlands. A quaint, historical settlement with many of the original log cabins of the original settlers.
