Our hike to the top of Mount LeConte was great. It was very snowy, but that added to the adventure. We took the Rainbow Fall Trail...

“Breathtaking!”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

I wish it would not have been so cold, the whole park is run along the Pigeon River which looked good enough to jump right in for a swim! We did hit the trails, loved the wilderness and saw a buck of wild turkeys and an ardvarck.

“Snakes, Salamanders and Smells”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

For starters its hard to find a place to park to hike up here. But once you do you need to be ready for a bit of a hike. It's quite a rise in elevation. There were a lot of weird smells on our hike here. We saw a salamander in the rainbow falls and saw a big black snake as well. Great hike though.

“Love the views!”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

Must go see!! If you are an avid hiker you need to hike Mount LeConte! I recommend someone who is familiar with hiking and has a pretty good endurance. But beginners can do this hike with ease, just be sure to take your time. Highly recommend!!

“My favorite hike in the Smoky Mountains”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

My favorite hike in the Smoky Mountains is the Alum Cave Trail and on up to Mt. Leconte Lodge and the Cliff Top overlook. The reason this hike is so popular is that it provides everything you want in a hike. The views are tremendous, there are really neat stopping points along the way, including Arch Rock, Alum Cave, and the Lodge, it is strenuous and long enough that you feel satisfaction in reaching the top, and it can be easily accomplished in an afternoon. You will not see views like this along many hikes. I reccomend going on a weekday afternoon, or on Sunday afternoon if you mus on a weekend. Saturdays are really busy, and if you are like me, you would rather not have a traffic jam of hikers spoil your outing in nature.
