Description: For a less formal setting, the Pioneer Grill offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a classic 1950’s-style service. The Pioneer Grill at Jackson Lake Lodge is one of the oldest and rumored to be the longest continual counters at 200 ft. One counter snakes through the room, creating a friendly atmosphere where guests interact with travelers and employees from around the world. Be sure to enjoy one of our famous huckleberry milkshakes before you leave!

When you pop your nose into this place it looks like a classic lunch counter from the 1960s. You expect good burgers, shakes and fries, but not much more. Think again! This is a wonderful full service restaurant with fablulous salads, soups, and entrees. The Pioneer Chopped Salad was first rate, as was the Grilled Trout special. We had the Pioneer Vegetable Soup and a very special Spicy Chicken Quesadilla soup that should not be passed-by when available. Another great special entree was the Pot Roast dinner.

The food was first rate, the portions were BIG, the service was warm, friendly and quick. The seating was strictly lunch counter where diners can converse with other folks about their travels across the formica. There are no booths or tables. It is not a romantic place with quiet intimate corners. It is an in-your-face American diner with fabulous food. Try it once and you will be back.

We had breakfast here after our only night at the Jackson Lake Lodge - and the Pioneer Grill was fantastic! I was in the mood for healthy breakfast - and there were plenty of options. I could have indulged in pancakes, waffles, you name it - they had it! The Pioneer Grill is set up like an old Fountain Counter - and the food is really good as is the service. You can't go wrong here!

We did not easily give up on dining here at the Jackson Lake Lodge after a terrible meal at the Mural Room. We decided to give it at chance at the Pioneer Grill next door. We thought breakfast is an easy meal to make- nothing should or could go wrong so we took our chance and ate here.
We came around 10am. The place had a lot of empty stools. There are two persons working on each pod of the snaking continual counter- the waiter and his assistant. Menu is standard diner breakfast fare.
It took awhile for our coffee to arrive even though the coffee machine was right across us. If they gave us a Sanka sachet, work could have been simpler since their coffee tasted like instant anyways. Our food came after three customers who came after us received theirs. My friend did not get his orange juice. We continually prompted the waiters to remind them of our orders. The food was mediocre. My over and easy eggs were smooshed. The hash brown was dry and overcooked. My friend's skillet biscuits was soaking on sausage thyme gravy, it could pass for a soup.

We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner here during our four-day stay at the Jackson Lake Lodge. Service is at a countertop, very informal, and although the place is always crowded, you can usually find two seats together. They also have a take-out window.

Our meals were always good with more than enough to eat, although not particularly inexpensive. Breakfast and lunch for two typically cost $24 - $30. The breakfast burrito is a good choice. The salads were also good, as were all the tasty huckleberry treats - milk shakes, pie, and ice cream.

The wait staff was an international college-aged crew, pleasant, attentive and talkative. Meals were served fairly promptly. It's a great alternative to the formal Mural Dining Room.

Even if you are not staying at the lodge, you should stop in for a quick meal or treat to enjoy the view of the Tetons. It's also a wildlife habitat - it is not uncommon to see moose, elk, or a bear! There are some interesting shops in the hotel lobby, too.

We ate here one night and very much enjoyed the good comfort food. My husband had meat loaf and I had the chilly dog and fries. Both were very good. It was a good way to end a great day in a beautiful location.
