Highly recommend the cruises on the lake! Close up views of Mt Moran & other peaks, well maintained... read more
Colter Bay village has an excellent location, the cabins are well secluded and will provide a feeling amidst nature. Excellent location for photography.
The rooms were log wood rooms and were average. There were gaps in the room and cold air was coming in. The heaters were good but had a terrible sound - which disturbed the sleep throughout the night. The bathrooms were very cold, but had a good service for hot water.
There was an additional charge deducted during checkout, which was mentioned during the time of reservation.
Overall average experience - the location and ambience of the village were the positives out of the stay.
This location is a great place to corral the family on your national park adventure. We planned to spend time in Grand Teton and Yellowstone and this location would have been perfect if the southern entrance to the park hadn't been closed due to fires. We look forward to returning with the family when the kids are older!
First, the pros - the cabins are cute, the beds were pretty comfortable, and the location is very nice - near Colter Bay. The cons - cabins are very dark, our rag rug was horribly stained and the bathrooms are old, cramped and dirty. Most problematic - if you need heat, which you definitely might even in the summer, the wall heater sounded like an 18 wheeler idling in the room. The noise was ridiculous. My standards aren't that high - we were camping many nights of our vacation and would have camped in the Tetons if they took reservations - but this was a poor value for what they charge. I'd try something else next time.
filthiest bathrooms I have ever seen in a campground. the lots were close to each other therefore noisy. did not seem to have any host to check conditions.
When you visit wonderful Grand Teton National Park and want to stay more than one day and not camp, you have no option but to stay at Colter Bay Village. We rented a "cabin" for one night. They provided no information as to where to check in, so it took valuable time to find that out. Our "cabin" turned out to be a tri-plex (and we were in the middle "cabin"). The walls are very thin and so you will hear your neighbors. Trust me. We paid $200 for a double and a twin (the smallest offered). Upon check out, we were informed that we owed another $2.43. This, we were told by the contract company that operates the facility is a fee that the National Park Service tells them they have to charge for "energy usage". Pleeease. As for the "cabin" itself, it was relatively clean. The bathroom was very cramped with threadbare linens. There was a desk and a closet. The bed was comfy enough.
We stayed in the tent cabins in Colter Bay Village and it was perfect for our visit to the Grand Tetons. Big, roomy area with a stove to keep the room cozy and warm. There is no electricity in the tent cabins but there are outlets in the bathrooms and office. Each cabin comes with covered picnic table and fire pit. One drawback- no ladder to upper bunk.
