“Best Value in Jackson Hole/Yellowstone Area for Families with Kids”
Reviewed September 13, 2006

We searched and searched for affordable accomodations in this region to no avail until we discovered this. Cabins were great, Teton's are the most beautiful mountains in Wyoming. Can use the pool at the lodge, lots to do for hiking and other stuff.

the tent cabin office is located within the tent cabin area ((in the building where the men/women bathrooms are)) not at the cabin check-in office, which we soon found out. I did not know the arrangements of the tent/cabins ahead of time. This is important to those who can't walk long distances or have small children. Please ask ahead of time when making reservations. We were lucky and got a close tent. As for the conditions of the tent/cabins. First off, yes....the bunks are very uncomfortable. The springs have very little support once laid on. The pads are clean and thin, so don't expect much there. If possible, I would recommend bringing mattress/foam padding. There are wood posts on the walls for hanging jackets, towels, etc. and 2 shelves (small). Didn't need the wood stove, but glad its there just in case. The picnic table in front is a great idea. Just remember, folks....this isn't going to be a 5 star hotel room. Its roughing it time! You are only staying in the tent/cabin to change & sleep.
I cannot honestly recommend the Chuckwagon Restaurant for breakfast or dinner. We ate there for both meals and the prices were awful. Do yourself a favor and get a quick snack at either the convienience store or the grocery store on the property before heading into either Jackson or Yellowstone to eat. There is a better variety. Of the two restaurants we ate at in Jackson....breakfast was at The Bunnery and a great BBQ dinner at Bubba's (what a find! fast service, great food, platters big enough for two, and cost effective - less than $15.00 meal prices) along with a pricy ($18.+ per person) but enjoyable dinner/musical show at Bar J Chuckwagon (just outside of Jackson-heading to Teton Village). All in all, it was fun....but, next stay in Jackson will be in a hotel room ((don't need the additional cost of $3.50 for a shower....is water that precious?))

I have camped a lot so I know what to expect when someone says tent. The tent cabins are VERY basic. There were only two of us, so we just used the bottom bunks, but the springs and mattress pads on them were sunken in and worn out. There was an old worn out broom left in the corner and I wondered if it was the only cleaning device used in the tents, because it was obvious that nothing was really done between guests.
We ate at both the fast food restaurant and the sitdown one. The breakfast buffet is way over priced, but the ala carte menu was decent. Service was OK in both places, but overall, not near as good as what we had in Yellowstone earlier in the week.
Of course, the scenery was wonderful! If I do this again, I'll take my own tent and just stay in the campground. That way I'll know my tent is clean. I'll still have to pay $3.50 for a shower, which seemed a little ridiculous since we were already paying $39.00 for an old tent.
