Paid $98 for one night. cosy and comfortable with everything we needed. Room heated quickly. Great view next to train tracks. Slightly concerning that windows did not lock. Restaurant in lodge amazing value and quality. Barry was exceptional. Slightly unnerving having two raccoons run past me but all part of the experience. Two minute walk from rim

I am glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at our Maswik Lodge. I am also glad you felt that the food was a good value. We take great pride in our Fred Harvey history, and it is always good to hear when we succeed in living up to those standards. Thank you for sharing your comments.

There was nothing wrong with our room at the Maswik Lodge. Room was rustic, but very clean as was the bathroom. However, the linens were absolutely disgusting! The bedspread looked as though it was 30 yrs old. The sheets were a greyish-yellow and the towels were grey and very worn. I slept in my clothes. Refused to go under those sheets. That said, it was lovely seeing the deer in the morning right outside our room. We rose early to see the sunrise at the Canyon. Maswik is a short walk to the South Rim. Take a flashlight--as it is quite dark at night. We stayed here as it was part of the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel package.

Room Tip: Try to stay as close to the main building as possible. We were a distance away and although that wa...

We stayed in a 2 queen handicap accessible room. It was very spacious, with plenty of room for a wheelchair user to move about. There are no rooms with a roll-in shower; there was a tub with grab bars, and a small shower chair, which might have been useful for someone who could step into the bathtub. There were two sinks, one in the bathroom and one in a long counter in the dressing area. There was lots of storage space in the room, as well as a refrigerator and wifi. We stayed in late September and were very satisfied with the heater; we didn't need air conditioning.

Dinner at El Tovar was wonderful; so-so at Bright Angel. Breakfast was good at Bright Angel and also good at Maswik. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and service at the restaurants was very fast.

I loved being in a small building on the edge of the forest. In the late afternoon we saw six deer and an elk munching on the grass close to our room.

It's a great experience to stay on site when visiting the Grand Canyon. As all other lodges were sold out (and we did not make any reservations prior to our arrival), we ended up at Maswik lodge. A pretty good room for a decent price. Just do not expect any good food at this lodge. It's more like a feeding barn there. Instead, go to one of the other lodges for great steak or family style dinner.

We stayed here about 20 years ago and was passing the Park so decided to take a chance on a room. They have been updated somewhat since then but it is still a basic place to stay in the park. All the amenities are there but there is no A/C but they do provide fans and the windows do open. There is a mini fridge and coffee machine but no micro. It is not a Lodge in the traditional Park sense but a series of motel buildings hidden among the trees. It is in a quiet setting. The reception area has a small sitting area and if you need Wi Fi this is where you might have to come. Adjacent to the reception is a cafeteria and a pizza bar. It is all self service. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The lodge is a short walk to the South Rim and there you can catch the Red Line bus for the Rim tour or the Blue Line bus for the Village, both are free.

Room Tip: If you are looking for luxury stay at the El Tovar or Kachina Lodge

The biggest thing was there was no air conditioning, would have needed it as it was hot in there when we went (Sept). I enjoyed the cottage/camp like atmosphere. Very basic room but clean. Large cafeteria in the main building with OK food to get you by for the night. Would not have stayed there very long but OK for overnight on bikes. It was nice to get up the next morning and go back to see the early morning sun over the Canyon before we took off (even if we spend most of the previous day visiting the canyon sights). Not every morning you wake up right at the Grand Canyon.

Room Tip: Take bottom room if you have heavy bags to carry up to the second floor, no elevators. Outside stai...

Our tour group stayed here and found it to be a nice stop over if you aren't expecting a lot of luxury. The lodge is close to the south rim and is located on the blue bus route. The other bus stops are walkable. Food was not outstanding but adequate.

Thank you for your comments on our Maswik Lodge. I am not sure which section you stayed in but I suspect the South portion. These are our budget rooms and do not offer a luxury experience. We strive to keep them in a clean and well maintained condition.
