“A little away from the action but quiet”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

Our rooms were part of the Grand Canyon Railway package. We stayed in the Mesquite unit which was a bit of a walk from the main building but the rooms were very clean with a great forest view. Perhaps a pillow refresh would make the beds just a wee bit more comfortable.
The Cafe area was brisk and busy and the food was tasty. The gift shop was vast and had a bit of everything.

Upon arrival, the cabin we stayed at for two nights was dirty and the bathroom was not clean. The windows would not open and the fan did not work well. The front door did not close air-tight. We did not enjoy our stay and it was not worth $100.00 a night!

We stayed in one cabin for two nights.

*CLEANLINESS*
-Spiders and moths in room.
-Toilet overflowed onto bathroom floor, and reception desk staff was neither surprised nor apologetic.
-Bathroom floor was stained and dirty in general.

*ACCOMODATIONS*
-Hot room with no A/C.
-TV had only 3 working channels.
-No microwave.
-No wifi in rooms / extremely slow in lobby.
-Cleaning service knocked on our door at 8 AM.
-Inadequate parking (2 spots for 4 rooms).

*FOOD*
-Gross and overpriced.
-Self-service stations are inefficient and poorly staffed.
-There was a fly in our salad.

*The ONE good thing*
-The green tea bathroom soap was fantastic.

Room Tip: Tip: Don't choose this lodge.

My family and I (2 adults + 16, 15 + 11 years old) stayed in a two queen bed room for one night on August 1, 2013. The room was clean and large enough to accomodate a blow up queen mattress. We opted for an air conditioned room but it was so cool that we did not really need it. The check-in process was easy and staff was friendly. The hotel was a very short walk to the south rim which allowed easy access to the rim trails, shuttle buses and car routes. Book the room early, I did on October 1, 2012, because all of the hotels inside the canyon book quickly. My wife and I got up around 5:30 a.m. to watch the sunrise over the canyon, which was fantastic. While we were walking to the rim, there were at least 30 mule deer + elk walking around the rim and railroad tracks.

Room Tip: Try to stay at a hotel inside the park by booking at least 8 months in advance. Hotel staff recomme...

Our family of five made our reservations around March. Because of the size of our party and the lateness of our reservations we limited on options. We felt fortunate to have this reservation for two consecutive nights.

Our room was like a southwest themed Motel 6. It was small, but clean and comfortable. Of course it's about triple the price you'd find outside any tourist area. But we paid for convenience to the rim. Our room was a short walk to the rim and to the main Maswik Lodge. We paid an extra $10 a night for a rollaway. We had air conditioning and not all rooms at the GC do.

The staff was amongst the most friendly I'd ever encountered. It would have been nicer to stay on the rim, but I was satisfied with our stay. Recommended.

Room Tip: Some rooms have AC and some don't.

Stayed 2 nights at Maswik Lodge. Great location to stay in the park. Only 5 minutes walk to the rim for sunset and sunrise. Checking in was very fast and easy. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was good and clean. No wifi internet in room but can use it in lobby ( very slow ). Location, location and location....

You don't need much more than this as the Canyon itself upstages everything. Our room was fully air conditioned so I don't understand why some say it was hot. The beds were adequate and although we were told there was no wifi we did have it in our room. You don't spend much time here so as a crash pad it was fine. Breakfast at the lodge was adequate too although the coffee was as nasty as every other place I have had it in America. Americans do nasty coffee. Live with it.
Evening meal - we highly recommend the Arizona Room at the Angel Lodge at the rim. Excellent service and top notch food at reasonable prices.

Room Tip: Maswick north lodge seems to have the better rooms - we were in Mesquite which was good
